@Memento Beats Avicii is an interesting example as he layers TONS of stuff. He may start with a preset but he messes around with it quite a bit. See So when he is all done its different from the original
I am a huge Avicii fan as well. I see a LOT of hip hop guys using stock FL or Reason drum...
@2GooD Productions Dude I know, I used to talk to Relic, Dac and Stress on the phone OFTEN. We all became real life friends. Its pretty amazing really.
And Im always down and looking for Emcees, anyone is welcome to hit me up.
My main thing is that I use almost all real instruments. If you hear a bass line, I played it. If you hear a synth I made the patch. I get other musicians to play on the tracks as well so its all real performances. I do sample and twist up old records from time to time but its always...
Chord progressions have mostly all been done as have melodic elements. But you can always put them in a new context. I would argue that your job as a producer is to find your own sound. Using stock sounds AT ALL its completely lazy. Why in the world would you want to not make your own sound...
I want to go in more depth with this, hopefully its not incoherent I have been on the road all damn day.
This place helped me hone my beat making ability until it was razor sharp and I could win most battles.
I forget the username but Sikderelic?? convinced me to slow down and take my time in...
Oh man, I think we have to blame the record labels in the 90's for that. Once you could get past digital zero in a way you could not with analog gear you could just squash forever. So to stay competitive labels for louder and louder and things sound "better" for the first few seconds of a song...
ok @Fade I got your question answered and it is in the interview about half way. https://www.bleedingpeanutbutter.com/interviews/mastering-engineer-chris-frasco-interview
What he basically said is

I'd like to think that mastering overall is getting less loud, and allowing the music to...
Which tutorial is the best?? I like this one
Also check out Joe Gilder, he is an old friend of mine an has tons of great advice https://www.youtube.com/user/HomeStudioCorner
Man, I have not used a Stereo Enhancer in years. I leave that stuff to the mastering engineers. And I only double parts...
yea I would NOT do that with a limiter on the master, with herself as a side chain. I don't know that doing that makes sense actually. In theory her vocals could trigger herself kinda. These days I refuse to use a limit on the master and it may be more natural to just automate your volume on her...
Are you also doing any eq post compression? I find compressors change the tone and I like to do both. How much compression are you using? Another vocal trick I like is to automate the reverb send so that there is next to no reverb on the first part of the sound but automate it so the reverb...
This is the future of realistic strings and brass https://audiomodeling.com/swam-brass-preorder/ This tech is amazing. Also do you have any Native Instrument products? You could get upgrade pricing for this https://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/cinematic/symphony-series-brass/
Im happy to help, can you be more specific about what you are trying to do and what DAW you are using so we know what stock plugins you have available?
I have a song that's big in like Croatia and I get like $18 for 30k plays lmao.
I also just got a w2 for some stock music I made that sold like crazy. $15 total worth.....
