Three new pieces of hardware in the studio

I don't see why the Minilogue wouldn't work with FL, I have used many hardware synths over the years and this little thing is damn impressive. I envision keeping it around a long time.

Three new pieces of hardware in the studio

hahah @Fade @2GooD Productions its the Electron Digitakt The MPC one is a perfect thing for me as I have a modular synth and it has CV control for it. Also the Korg sounds fantastic and is pretty easy to get going with. Now I just have to get my desk organized again...

How does the listener (subconsciously) know what scale a melody is being played in?

yes, most people would not know that a key or a scale is even a thing. For them it just feels good or not. But as you learn music, you know HOW to create that feeling in others. I could for example write a happy or sad song immediately because I know what scales to use to put that together.

    Difference between scale and key?

A scale is ALL the notes in a key A song could be in the key of say F# but it doesn't mean it will use every note in that key. The main reason keys exist is because notation was written by hand, ink was a premium and if a piece of music had a bunch of sharps in it then it was easier to just...

You guys are sleeping on Elektron

I just picked up a Digitakt and it is one of the coolest Drum machine/Samples I have ever used. Just some wicked stuff you can do with it. Check it out I also have an MPC One on order so I will compare them as soon as I get the MPC in hand. I am done with 2000xl but still loving Maschine

    Do keys matter?

I won't make a difference to one part in a melodic context soloed by itself, but keys make a massive difference in the scheme of the overall composition.

    New kid on the block

I am a computer guy myself, so I get it. I would say those MPC's are instruments in themselves and take some time to learn and can sure be fun. My brain connected with Reason years ago but FL is VERY powerful in ways no other sequencer is.

How do producers manipulate the sounds of instruments?

Most producers start with the pitch of a sample. You can pitch it up or down to do all kinds of things. Sometimes the performance is just a sampled phrases from a record or something. For me most of the songs I make I use real instruments and either play them myself or get my musician friends to...

    Acoustic Treatment

Its more about tuning the room than anything, put all the dimensions in the computer and see what it says. Is this a tracking room? Control room? Let me know how it goes, I am about to start building my own private studio in about 30 days and will be using all this stuff!

Production Akai MPC One: Will It Improve Your Workflow?

CV Control is why. That is huge. Although I am leaning Elektron as they have CV on their stuff as well.

    Be careful with Behringer mixers

Was it properly grounded at the outlet? What Did you have it plugged in to. The power strip? I have bashed Behringer for years because of quality but it does seem like they have improved and they are killing it in the synth dept.
