    i am not exactly sure of what you mean by 'automatic swing' but i can assure you sonars midi sequencing capabilities are worlds beyond fruity loops as far as intuitiveness and fast access to more indepth editing in the piano roll. (fruity loops is capable but i think you will find sonar faster...

    ebay is good you just have to be proactive in making sure you don't get fucked. i have probably bought about $5000 or so of gear on e-bay and saved about the same amount maybe more (e-bay can be great for mics and pre's)

    i don't always use a condensor i find different dynamics can be the best thing in some situation for recording rapping namely the shure sm58 and the Sennheiser MD-441 i do however generally use a condensor the cad vx2 and i personally think in the $600 - $1200 for recording raps especially...

    two good cheap hardware compressors are the dbx 160 (get an old one of ebay for about $150 - $200 us) or the jbl/urei 7110 which is about the same price (i myself would go with the jbl/urei) these compressors are good on the cheap end of things as is the rnc from fmr i am soon going to...
