While I agree with him, so much hip hop is lifeless over processed, groove quatized stuff. This is why jack white rules, its all so authentic and passionate. That needs to return to hip hop.
When you installed Maschine it probably installed the Maschine VST file somewhere. Try and find it and put it in your vst folder that you use for live. If you cant find it you may need to run the Maschine installer again.
Agreed, so many bad music video especially in hip hop. For my next record I am aiming for 4-5 music videos and I hope to really have great ones, not the same old same old. Right now Indie rock is killing the music video game. Check this out
Honestly I hate the idea of selling "beats" I don't like making things like that. I will produce a track with an artist and craft music to perfectly fit their lyrics. Sometimes this means I do compose a bunch of tracks for them to choose from but then I always customize once we have vocals laid...
Both of those guys are totally underrated. Ellis is CRAZY good at what he does. I think Native Instruments is who won this round as I see two Machines and Jeff on Traktor Scratch. NICE!
ha ha, see :)
I guess we just disagree. Sure Kanye is the master at reworking his image but at the same time the content of his work is solid. It certainly is not style over substance like say l Solder boy or lil john. Kanye has fantastic music as well as introspective lyrics on each album...
Both for me. I don't need stacks of cash but I want to make a good living from my art. Some projects I take on purely to pay bills and some music I make is just for me. You have a chicken or the egg problem though. I don't think you can really hate on these artists who make music just to sell. I...
hmmm DJ shadow talked about this in the late 90's :)
Anyway, the only way back is to actually MATTER, so say something for real. CREATE ART. I know you don't like Kanye and thats cool, but I really think thats what he is at least trying to do. Now if he is successful or not is another...
Hip-hop made a huge impact on me as well. And I still say as a creative medium it has more potential to actually say something then any other medium. But these songs with only a few 808's and all these songs that are the same just destroyed its credibility. Sadly I have to defend my liking of...
Great article I agree 100% with all of it. Its time to stop looking back and look forward to making better music. Lets make hip hop BETTER! Not rehashing old tired subjects over and over and over.
