yea the USB 3.0 should be able to use a 2.0 device fine. The problem with a USB 2.0 hub is that you are still plugging it in to a 3.0 port so you have not solved your problem at all. I assume you are on 64bit windows? and have you tried this driver...- thedreampolice

The adapter won't work, what kind of computer is it? Can you find newer drivers for the actual USB ports? In theory 3.0 ports should work fine.- thedreampolice

oh, just because its an older laptop. It probably needs replaced soon as well. I personally prefer Mac OSX over Windows, but I really can take advantage of the hardware flexibility you get with Windows. If you are getting a modern Mac laptop it will run Maschine great.
