Which is better for chopping samples?

^^^ Do you quantize the samples too? If not and you just play it how you feel it, then don't quantize the drums. -

Yeah London is expensive as hell. The rent is gonna be £400, Council Tax around £130 from what I gather. Then there's gas, electric, water, sewage, phone, Sky, internet etc. to pay out.- Cell 2Dee

Which is better for chopping samples?
I might try Ableton. I bought this month's Music Tech magazine and it had a little Ableton magazine free with it, so I could use that and learn a little bit. Plus there seems to be a few people on here that are good with it. -
What did you have to give up when you moved out?
^^^ I'm gonna get rid of it then I think. You look at it and think it's only £20, but that £20 can go a long way in terms of food for just 2 of us.- Cell 2Dee

I just have the basic shit, plus NN-XT. I either use the ReDrum or Rex for my drums, depending on what drums I wanna use. I put a DDL-1 in for my samples now too, linked up to the NN-XT. After reading a thread on here. It gives the sample so much depth. -

Nah, just set it up in the preferences of Reason, and it's got a built in Reason preset on the MPK. Shit was real easy, and dope as hell to use (the MPK). -
Which is better for chopping samples?
95% of the time I chop the section in Cool Edit, and then save it as aif for ReCycle, then just put in the number of bars and change the tempo of the sample, and slice it around every half beat. -

^^^ That last paragraph are my thoughts exactly. It would be real nice to have some new monitors and shit, but they're not essential for the time being. I've only been doing this a few months so I guess I wanna get a bit more used to beatmaking for the time being.- Cell 2Dee
