    I wasn't saying it wasn't hiphop, I was just saying its something that you don't find used in a lot of hiphop tracks, and as I said I've personally used flams on snares and ruffs on hi hat patterns from time to time, simply to change things up a little. Flams definately sound cool...

    I use flams occasionally. I have to agree they're not commonly used in hip hop. Basically a flam is when you have a quieter note [grace note] played just prior to the main hit. This is normally done on the snare - but if you listen to real good drummers they often incorporate flams and stuff...

    Very true, but the style of the sample is always a starting point if your making a sample based beat - A lot of the time you can expand or move on from that but sometimes some samples are just so evil you couldn't make a mellow, up-beat track if you tried.

    I watched that when it was on tv about a month ago. The stuff he does is ridiculous, some is just sublimal messaging and subconisouly influencing people etc but some of the of the stuff he does is literally incredible.

    LOL - it was real fast, but it doesn't really 'count' since he didn't pronounce half the words, just the ends of sentences... It just sounded like some uk garage or drum'n'bass emceeing.
