    Creating your own 'unique' sound

I think that the type of samples you use and how you utilize them is also a big part of having a distinct sound.

    Hardware Vs. Software Sequencing

I was thinking about copping one of those and using it to receive the eight MPC outs and my vocals. Would you recommend it?

    Hardware Vs. Software Sequencing

It depends, a lot the new Roland products have VGA outputs and the Roland VGA interfaces look like software (and you can use a mouse.)

Which type of music do you sample the most?

Other- I try to flip a lot of international music. There's one particular region that I sample the most but I can't share that- it's my "trick of the trade" lol

    Snare Compression/ALC Snares?

I do as well. It's really helpful because it helps me appreciate production more.

    Mpc 2500 Vs. Mpc 3000

    And an SL1200/1210, of course.

    Mpc 2500 Vs. Mpc 3000

I know what you mean- I wasn't talking about you or anyone else in particular. What I'm trying to say is that you can cop an MPC3000 in very good condition for about 1200 bucks, leaving the price difference to spend on other stuff (*cough* vinyl.)

    What can I get

I would NOT do the above. Instead of (or in addition to) the Numark PT-01, get a good Technics 1200/1210 deck (or two) Spend AT LEAST one g on monitors. Get good headphones as well. Look into the Sennheiser HD-280s. There was actually a guide on BeatTalk that was for a similar budget. It's...

    Mpc 2500 Vs. Mpc 3000

Personally, and I'm in the minority here, I'd cop the MPC3000.

Where my DJ's at?!?!? I need turntable help!

StressWon, there are some 1200 pairs going for that price range on eBay. If you already have a mixer, that would be a good choice. Check these out: Pair of 1200 Mk2 turntables Pair of 1210 Mk3 turntables Pair of 1210 turntables (don't know which generation) Hope that helps, The Deen

    Musical Inspirations & Influences

Actually, I take that back. Come to think of it, I'd love to produce tracks for an interesting alternative artist. That would be a new musical venture for me.

    Musical Inspirations & Influences

My first musical influence was Ray Charles; he was the first musician that I listened to. I listen to a lot of R&B/Soul, Jazz and classic Rock. Miles Davis has also been influential. I've actually been influenced quite a bit by a lot of international music and I try to bring that feel across in...

    Emu Emulator X2

I feel you G. I don't think I'ma get it anymore though since I found a great deal on a Triton for the price of Emulator and a MIDI keyboard. I'm probably gon' cop that Triton.

what sum good effects to put on vocals?

Why'd you buy one g worth of software if you don't got a soundcard or a real mic?

Why don't you contact the label?

    Music and Production

During the golden age of hip-hop, MCs used to make tracks with their producer, both of inputting ideas; this led to groups achieving a very distinct sound, like Public Enemy with the Bomb Squad, for example. I want to bring the old school back and thus I became a producer along with an MC, so I...
