    MPC Pads

He doesn't need the pad assembly - that's only on the MPC1000. For him, I think that this is what is necessary.

    YamahaPSR-Oxy8-Reason HELP???

What the hell is "cep"? Y'all are right about the Oxygen8, I had it confused with the Ozone. Kelz, you're missing our point - MIDI is NOT sound, it's data. You will NOT be hearing your music through the MIDI connection.

    MPC Pads

Order some replacement pads from VST. It'll run you about 16 bucks at most.

    YamahaPSR-Oxy8-Reason HELP???

MIDI is not sound, therefore you will not hear any through the sequencing connection. You have to hook up your audio outs on the board to the Oxygen8 audio inputs.

    Mpc500

Actually, it's not 5-600 more, a used MPC2000XL will run you about the same amount as a new MPC500.

Thanks for the article. It's nice to know that my current state as producer [compulsive crate digger in high school] is not exclusive to myself haha

    when overchopping destroys the loop...

Dilla's beats are a great example of all of the above. Sometimes he'd straight loop if it was hot as is, sometimes he'd chop it up real small, sometimes he'd take bits from all over a record and make them sound like a loop.

    Rode Nt1-a Mic

There's no such thing as a "hip hop mic" but it is a good one. Snoop Dogg really likes it - as does DJ Hi Tek

    Quick question

Naw Jacpot, I was just visiting London so it don't really matter if I tell one of the local cats about it. I doubt I'll hit it up again [that UK pressed vinyl sounds real nice though] Now, on the other hand, you gotta show me your spots when I move back to DC; don't worry about me stealin...

    Noob question - mixers

Not really, a mixer outputs a stereo signal, an interface will record the tracks seperately.

Turntable is old and F***ed up....

The buzz is 'cause your grounding cable isn't wrapped around your grounding screw. That'll remove it and get a new cartridge, if nothing else, the stylus is probably worn down after all the years so definitely change that.
