Rode Nt1-a Mic

is this a mic that can used sucessfully in hip hop? i read in wings' vadim article that vadim uses an nt2, what is the difference? if vadim uses it, does that mean it is a hip hop mic?

holmz? Form? BigD? anyone?

also TAMPA valve pre-amps? anyone got any views on that?

There's no such thing as a "hip hop mic" but it is a good one.

Snoop Dogg really likes it - as does DJ Hi Tek

i dont like either one .. way too bright and sibliant for me ... the original nt1 sounds better than the "a" version to me but they dont make them anymore... snoop or hi tek dont use a rode nt1a though i dont know where u got that from .... the tampa is great unit for the money i havent used one but i hear good thinga bout from people whose opinion i respect..

For male hip hop vocals I almost always use a dynamic mic. I like the MD421 and the Sure SM7 (not the SM57)

I highly recommend the rode NTK. Combined with a decent preamp, you can get a really good quality recording.

I got NT1-a. It's good for homerecording sessions. But really I don't think it is even close being "professional sounding" mic.

I got the Snoop/Hi Tek thing from Beat Talk and Remix Magazine.

i have the nt1a...i like it. it's all about personal preference though. like ashholmz said, it is kinda bright.
