    ... I could sync them, but it wasn't an accurate sync. They operate on 2 different timing codes and AA caused the MPC to skip. Cubase is an affordable alternative... You'll need midi cords or a midi interface... I have a usb/midi interface...

    I think the 'fun' of digging is... even if you don't find a sample that you can flip... which happens alot, even if I think I can flip it initially... But the best part is just enjoying different types of music. I'm not droppin $5k on records... but when I'm really diggin I'm droppin $60-100...

    I disagree... I just buy a bunch of records... I don't typically pay for that $2-3 a pop unless I know who the artist is... But just buy a bunch of stuff... I've bought records because I like the cover art... real rap... Buy it... throw on the turntable, let it play and go play some...

    I mix my own stuff... at first I was skeptical because as a producer I thought I should only concerned about making the song... let the engineer's worry about everything else... But low and behold... after learning to mix... I've learned that doing your own mixes helps you create your own...

    ... eh... I have ST2XL... I really don't like it... I think the sounds are both flat and paper thin. If you like tweaking sounds... you may like it... if you don't... stay away...lol

    It's free to register as a composer/writer... so why not... I've been told that it makes you seem more professional...etc... and as far as taxi... I was a member and hated it. More because they never tell you exactly whom you're making music for..etc. That and after paying a $300 membership...

    Upgrading Computer processor

    ... if you're processor doesn't meet the minimum requirements, then most likely you should get a whole new system. I say that because upgrading the processor would be like putting a V8 engine in a volkswagen. Everything else is still slow. Also, a good computer system can be had for $600 now...

    as a no name producer... you're better finding obscure samples... Blaze, Kanye...etc. they have the clout to sample big names and keep alot of their publishing... we aren't so lucky right now...lol

    But an Indie label w/ Major distribution is an oxymoron... the point of an Indie label is to be Independent of Interscope, Warner Brothers et al... right?

    Mastering 1 song is completely pointless. Mastering is the final process to make sure all the songs on an album are at the same level... there's more to it than that... but that's the basic premise... a good mix is all you need when submitting tracks...

    Major... I look at it like this... Even if I'm signing as an in-house guy...etc... it's only going to be for a limited time 3-5yrs. After those 3-5 yrs, I'll have a better chance of having a big name and consequently I'll be able to charge more and have more options.

    ... I never had a prob w/ Cubase and RAM... I had 512 loaded on... now when I made the switch to PT... I had to up my game to 1.5Ghz RAM

    Interpolations must be cleared. Dre has been sued (Kill Me off Em's 2nd album comes to mind) for in terpolating (replaying instruments) basslines. When you copyright a piece of music, you're essentially copyrighting the arrangments of the notes, because that's what music is, an arrangement...

    delta 66... or 1010... 66 has 6 I/O's... 1010 has 10... or if you could swing it, you could get a say $70 mixer and a MBox... some have said they aren't happy with the quality, but I don't have any problems with it...

    Recording Software..Athlon Processors..compatible??

    I've always stayed away from Athlon processors... I actually had one (one of the first generation of Athlon processors)... hated it... but Athlon processors DON'T get the same performance when clocked. At least as far as other apps go... it wasn't a strictly music based test.
