    26 Horn tracks...WTF yo?!

Thats why I love Melodyne. Sometimes I even use it to rewrite melodies or chord progressions.

Compressing a kick... punch or weight

It's really not, just takes a basic understanding of signal flow and routing. If you need help, pm me and ill give you my phone number to help better explain it. Like I said, I'm running on fumes right now, so explaining it over the phone/in person would probably get the point across better.

    Layering kick drums...

Honestly, your best bet is to mic up a live drum set... particularly on the kick drum. I prefer to do a d112 inside the hole on the kick, and a yamaha sub kick mic close to the front of the kick drum(as close as you can get to the face of the kick without touching it). When you play the kick...

Compressing a kick... punch or weight

have to disagree partly(excuse me if i'm somewhat incoherent, been in the studio for close to 60 hours now with no sleep). When compressing drums, the drum bus not the individul sounds should be compressed around 5:1 for 3-4 dB's of GR with a medium to quick attack to allow both the punch and a...

3 Tips For Better Rap Vocals

Yea, your right, sounds iffy the way I explained it. My bad, what you do is you put yourself in the recording or mixing spots(your sweet spots) and have another person move the mirror. If YOU can see your monitors while your boy moves the mirror around the walls, thats where you absorb...

Congrats Hip Hop! Lil Wayne is no longer a rapper...

waka flocka has the #1 mixtape on livemixtapes.com right now... do I care that he's not a lyricist? Hell no, because my artist has 5 features on it. You have to sell out to an extent to make a good living. IMO, the Carter/Carter II were great albums.

Sounds & synths that are good 4 commercial, club hip hop music

one of the best posts I've read on here. This industry is a hustle, pure and simple. Can't stick to weed if you want the real money, gotta sell crack, heroin and pills too.

    Routing/recording/mixer&computer...(?)

lol, i feel what your sayin bruh, but there aren't 16 channels of audio. Unfortunately, then we'd be looking at a $20,000 console instead of a 5,000 dollar console/controller hybrid. Basically, the Matrix.

    Routing/recording/mixer&computer...(?)

good call, i've only used it twice, and didnt really fuck with the i/o in the back cuz it wasn't in my studio. Madi would be great, but i'm not sure theres a need for only 2 inputs. Madi is more for large format, unless I'm mistaking.

3 Tips For Better Rap Vocals

a trick i learned for combating reflections are to take a mirror and move it around the surfaces in your room. For recording, anywhere you can see the mic reflecting in the mirror, you need absorption on that part of the wall. Same for mixing situations. Move the mirror around and anywhere...

    Routing/recording/mixer&computer...(?)

yea, it has two of the super analogue pre's that they got on the duality and adat/spdif in/out. Audio is done through usb 2.0, but the controller is run through ethernet.

    Routing/recording/mixer&computer...(?)

its not a 16 channel set up really, it only has 2 analog inputs I believe... but has 16 automated faders and all that

3 Tips For Better Rap Vocals

THIS, and izotope Nectar is pretty fuck sick to impress the clients real quick on their vocals, some great presets and options to shut them up and get them out of the studio to get to the real mixing by myself.

    Routing/recording/mixer&computer...(?)

Personally, I believe Midi controllers are good for Midi, but when it comes to mixdown, you need an actual automated(motorized/touch sensitive faders) controller to really step up your workflow. Get yourself a used m-audio project mix for 700 at GC or something, and then buy a few high high...

Making a beat just ain't the same anymore

not trying to be an asshole, but you are fortunate just to have paying artists to begin with. The customer is always right. If you want to do music as a hobby, doing what YOU want is absolutely fine. If you want to do it as a career, you have to get over that shit and do what the artist...
