    learning different layering techniques is also good and open closed hi hat techniques i.e learn your adsr (with drum sounds especially the sr bit are really important and allow you to drastically change the dynamics of a sample without it sounding unnatural) as it is generally a better tool...

    Whats so great about ProTools

    with pro tools you can add tdm cards etc. and it has alot of different controllers which help with the hands on thing... if you are a recording/mixing engineer with dickloads of cash it is good but with 5 gran you'll get a much better setup going with one of the other many options

    yeh.... but on the left hand if you switch from browser to edit mode (i think it is) it is much quicker and easier.... i myself find kontakt really good interface wise but i am used to it

    Digi 002 Rack or M-Audio 1814 w/M-Power??

    you will get a more heavily featured version of pro tools with the 002. at the same time thew version of pro tools that comes with 002 still doesn't even have the features of say nuendo or sonar so my advice would be neither that said if your going pro tools 002 is probably the way to go
