Tips for sampling
i find the best way to work is to look through your records and find one main sample that makes a good hook or melody etc and put that down with some basic drums then i'll go looking through my stuff for things to add to it, i have a library of stuff that ive already sampled some are just like a... -

some pretty good points being made.... what i was trying to get at was that the DJ spinning and looping breaks is kind of a form of sampling, so the natural evolution of this seemed to be to use the sampler when that was invented and that obviously formed the sound of early hip hop but nowadays...- MarkN

ok... the main thing i was trying to get at was that hip hop originated largely from DJs playing breaks and looping them with MCs rapping over the top! so the evolution of this seems to be your typical sampled hip hop track. damn! i haven't had my mpd24 for too long either! best piece of gear ive bought tho! if they were to bring out an upgrade im sure i'd buy it lol looks like a few more faders maybe sum soft touch buttons aswell and can't make out what that is to the left of the pads might be sliders like the mpcs... -

the one thing i don't like about the new sequencer is how it like selects the whole section and you have to double click in it before drawing a note, if you just draw a new note in it deletes everything ! -

im guessing your training muay thai ? if so i've heard off a few people thats its a great experience, theres a lot of good gyms out there obviously but just watch where you go as theres a lot of crime in some areas especially towards tourists, getting robbed etc- MarkN

When recording live instruments get your sound right when you record it, use different mics, or placements etc to get the right sound before you record, there's no point wasting time correcting something that could have been right in the first place ! -
