what i do... i speed up the tempo... put the drums in first... and instead of recording them to the 2s and 4s... i make the drum track 8 beats long... and record to the 3s and 6s.... feel me? -

i dont think you will run out of sounds with reason necesarrily... because it gives you the flexibility to give you the ability to make any sound... all you have to do is learn what each of those little knobs do(which i'm in the process of doing currently)... and tweak sounds and make new sounds... -

a year and a month basically... i started with fruity loops, now i got fruity loops, cool edit pro, reason, a few vsts, a turntable, monitors, and an interface.... and what sanove said about your first beats are true... i was nodding my head to my first beats... with the default fruity loops... -

yup, just as he said^ get a decent 808 sample....(not one of them bs ones)...and eq the lower frequencies...and find the frequency that suits what you are trying to achieve and boost it.... don't overdo the boosting though -
