All I'm saying is. Someone can tweek the ass out of their 20 000$ synths and their racks upon racks of effects and stuff but it still sounds boring and liveless. And a man can make a track bang with just his harmonica and his heart..
All I'm saying is. It's not about what you produce on, it's where you produce from. The heart.
A beat has to be filled with heart. Wheter it's sorrow or happyness. A real emotion that grabs the one that's listening is what it's all about.
^^^I like this dude, thats real shit Ive heard beats done on fruity loops and Roland that sound alot better than stuff I hear that comes off of tritons + mpc's, I suppose when you put ya heart in it youre determined to not let it suck so you tend to put more effort into it ya knowandreas said:Well that can to some extent be a factor. I gotta co-sign on these "crate diggin" sections of these sites. That's just plain lazy-ass cheating, sorry. This is Hip-Hop, man, and it used to be a secret society for very specific reasons: the preservation and evolution of the culture and its music. These "crate diggin" sections" totally do away with the idea of DISCOVERY and hard work, and the education of music I know I got from scouring records from here to Australia! Everything else is cool, but some new cat asking for the exact record that Alchemist sampled for "We Gon' Make It", for example, is NOT cool. Now these new cats got a easy way in -- thanks to ANYONE who gives away spots, LP names, or labels -- and they won't know JACK SHIT about music itself, just how to take it and make it like damn fast food with no integrity or heart put into it.
All crate-diggin' sections on producer sites are complete hypocrisies that mock the efforts of the greats that inspired us from the Bomb Squad (who used ALL 48-64 tracks for every sample), to EPMD, to Large Professor, to J Dilla and Madlib, even MF Doom's crazy ass (who will jack yo' shit and TELL you...he's cool though, remember Peach Fuzz?) For the sake of Hip-Hop...ALL you "producer sites": STOP SNITCHIN'!!!!!!!!!!

There ya go....I don't know how many times, its been seen and done....theft is more rampant than you think LOL and hell....a cat under the gun, on a payroll at a label would almost kill for a good idea or melody if they in a slump to deliver...that's real talk...I seen Nomics, and other cats talk about so and so stole this melody or concept and i have seen it first hand....NEver show all ya cards....especially if its a song that someone can easily go find the sample or recreate the melody or concept.......look at the number of guests on any given site with production or music....and trust me there are cats on this site that have material worthy of a contract or somebodies album.Beatz 101 said:Personally, i rarely put the babies ( my joints i put 100% of my soul into) on the internet.
so maybe my skills might have seemed to downgraded, but that was stricly a business strategy. And im pretty sure others on this site do the same thing.
i might put a joint up for a Beat This! comp but i try to limit my joints so i can keep some of the snakes at bay.
But i like the environment at illmuzik. It really helps me polish my craft n' keeps me wantin' to become a better producer. If it wasnt for illmuzik i'd be an arrogant asshole cuz there wouldnt be nobody to check me. illmuzik kinda let me know that there is acouple kats in my position that can shit on me if they wanted to so that keeps me on my toes.

Also just cos u know what something is it may be hard to find also just buying the records dont mean ur gonna have the ear to catch the sample and then flip it into something dope.
