I know that this might be a dumbass question but i am going to ask it anyways. I need to know what kind of producing equipment i need to get started. This is the stuff i got

Drum Machine -

Keyboard -

Mixer -

Can someone inform me in the other stuff it would help me out alot. Thx in advance

A pc would be a good start...but I'm guessing you just left that out. Otherwise, get one...plug all you gear to the pc...and that's it...don't start of with something expensive unless you got money to waste...

I know people are probably going to tell you differently, but that's my suggestion. Use Cubase or something similar to lay down the tracks for your drummachine and keyboard...

Ask Vitaman...he know all kinds of shit. Or Fade or...anybody else in here...listen to each one and pull out the bits you like and that suits you.

Well what kind of mixer, drum machine, and keyboard do you have?

I agree with Copen, hook it all up to your PC and get a program like Cubase, Cakewalk, Pro Tools, Logic, whatever. Don't drop money on expensive stuff until you've gotten your feet wet.

You've got everything you need to get started.

I'll add to the list of Copenhagen and Fade, get a PC.

Why?

1. You can record entire songs and burn them to cd.
2. You can record individual tracks, edit them, mic them, then burn them to cd.
3. You can download porn and watch it while you're burning cd's.

What kind of drum machine, mixer and keyboard do you have?

Thx for all the help guys. I got a PC and i got Cubase. i would do the PC programs for example fruity loops but i am alot better with hands on stuff. vitaminman, number 3 is the best tip i be sure to do that. I post later about the names of my Equipment there at my brother house right now.

Definitely a PC or MAC if you computer oriented.........


If not get a MPC2000XL and a couple of sound modules (Mo Phat, Proteus 2000) and sample CD's...........


And you are on your way............

Sure BeatOff should have been the adult when addressing these NewBies...but Mcrob obviously don't know that its the man behind the program that's capable of making fly beats and not the program itself. I know peeps who've got record deals with FruityLoops and also a guy with an awsome studio who makes wack shit...and eventhough I'm personally not a fan of Fruity, I recognize that peeps with skillz can bring heat with that program.
And Boss Aut., why interfer and provoke? It don't help ease the tension and make this board the serious, helpful board that many of us like about it...

Is dj paul or juicy j, dre or timbaland usin fruity loops? nah but that faggot ( age 14 ) next door to you bought fruity loops to be a producer. Remember that you're disrespecting those people who want to real professional producers. WORD

Thanks Helios for ruining what could have gone back to being a serious topic. I find you ignorant and without timing.

I know a producer who has won the prestigeous Alpha Beat Battle and is now attached to an underground hip-hop label, only using FruityLoops. Now sure, he hasn't gone platinum, yet, but he's further than you and your selfaclaimed pro-gear. I dare to say that many people in here who only uses FruityLoops, or any other pc music program for that matter, can probably take you out. I haven't heard anything from you or your selfaclaimed pro-gear so far...

Now, I'm not a fan of FruityLoops myself, but not because I found it to limit me. but because I found something that suited me better.

If you invest in a lot of real decent soundkits and know how to tweak the hell out of the kits in your pc based sequencer, then you can sure go far if you just make sure its mixed for you in pro setup. You can also buy gear for thousands of dollars and make wack ass beats (and rant about it on producer websites because your shit stink).

Does gear make YOU better. No, YOU make YOURSELF better. That was the point!

Also, its the professional mixing and engineering that make many platinum tracks what they are...not the setup that made them.

One last thing, tell me ONE good reason why they are disrespecting "real professional producers" (as you so call them). WORD!

Helios, you're right - there aren't any professional producers out there using ONLY Fruity Loops, but that doesn't mean that it can't be used to make dope beats.

I'll tell you this - right now I don't have my powerhouse PC, I'm using someone else's (P3, 128RAM, 6Gig HD, etc), and the soundcard is shit. I don't have any of my equipment hooked up to it, so all I'm able to use at this time is purely software and I'm STILL making good tracks.

Just because hardware seems like the way to go, doesn't mean that everyone has to use it! Remember, the times are changing, soon more and more experienced producers will be using software. But before I go off topic, FL is a good program and just like your dick inside a woman, it's all about how you use it.
