I know some of yall have had bad experiences with law enforcement. But have any of you considered it as a career?

I'm actually looking into a few departments out here in the Orlando area. It's a very steady and secure job.

I went to school for it, might as well pursue it.

ya I would never be able to do that lol. Every time i'm on the road and I see a cop, I just think to myself, "wow go get a fuckin life", they park on the side of the road just waiting to pull someone over and fuck up there day. I guess we need cops but idk they just piss me off. About a month ago, I got into some bs with some asshole cops, they harassed me, my little brother and sister, talking about theyre "gonna put me away for as long as they can cuz I punched some 14 year old kid" (I drove past an incident like 5 minutes prior and some people just decided to point the finger). That's the short story but it was just BS, it got me real heated when they knocked on my sisters window, she opened the door and they slammed it closed on her arm... ight im not gonna get into the police stories now

BTW, don't look for a "secure" job, it will keep you "just getting by" the rest of your life. Open a business or something so you can make dough

Ive considered it but I have 4 probs for me personally :
1) Although I would prolly be really good at the job I dont think that without extreme counciling everyday on dealing with people that I could avoid beating the shit out of folks or outright shooting them.
For instance Ark's comment above "wow go get a fuckin life", they park on the side of the road just waiting to pull someone over and fuck up there day.(just as an example nothing personal)
Would get him tossed in the back of a cruiser and dropped into alligator infested waters lol.
2) I know too many criminals, I would have to hear about it from them too damn much.
3) I dont like walking around with a target on my chest , too many people hate police for no other reason than because they have been raised to , or its "in" , or the fact they are doing illeagal shit so they hate police.lol
4) see number one, you dont get paid enough for that shit, I blank on people now in court .

If you do it, good luck I wont hate on you. You could join the military too, then you could be a cop anywhere in the world! "Drop the grenade launcher...NOW!!!"

Me personally no.
It is a lifestyle of its own. They tend to socialise with fellow officers, maybe because your avarage joe is uncomfortable with the thought of being friends with a copper. We all have our little crimes that we commit all the time. ie smoke weed, download mp3s etc.
One of my friends brothers became a copper, it changed him.
I started to perceive him differently too. Im sure its not just me that feels uncomfortable with the idea of police coming around for tea.

BTW, don't look for a "secure" job, it will keep you "just getting by" the rest of your life. Open a business or something so you can make dough

I have to agree. Being your own boss is much better than being told what to do for the rest of your life.
Especially if being told what to do is from some disconnected from reality prick of a senior police officer who hasnt been on the streets for decades.

Right now, no. Years ago, maybe - just for the sake of fuckin people up.

But really it's about finding something that you really enjoy doing and try to make a living off of it. I know what you mean about something steady, I was in the same boat a few years ago, I didn't know what I wanted and landing a job like that would secure my future but on the other hand, it's not for everybody.

Bottom line: if you were a bully in high school then being a cop would be perfect for you!

Not exactly, what I have found to be the case with some , is the oppositte, no one liked them in school and so they joined something where they could get even and coworkers would be forced to be their friend and look out for them.

2Good your right though about they hang with each other and all that, I think I could'nt switch over to that lifestyle because I prolly hold a higher standard than most cops do about what a cop is and what they should be like , and I just cant live up to that.
The truth is most of them just got the uniform to get pussy and they cheat on their wives and shit quite a bit. lol

Police have never been role models in my case, and thus would eliminate any desire to be one. They've left a very sour taste on my tongue since I was very young. So definitely not!

All I got to say is...make sure its what you wanna do. I understand cats taking SOME jobs just for the doe aspect of things...but becoming a cop is something you gotta have a passion for, and you gotta want to do it for the right reasons.."to protect and serve", you just dont do that for the money...not THAT job. Fuck getting shot at or having to shoot someone for about $40-60 grand a year.

Well... I have and had family & close friends in law enforcement for a while, now. They are all good cops. They've seen the ones that go astray but don't do it themselves. They've gotten such a bad rap over the years about brutality and corruption...But that's stereotyping them as well...That's nothing more than saying all black people are criminals.... What you hear is the .01% of all the people representing law enforcement... You always hear about a cop doing something wrong...But for that one cop, how many are doing the right thing and risking their lives for the safety of strangers?

I'm not trying to sway you guys in any way, you all have your reasons for not wanting to be a cop or disliking them and I respect that.

Yes, being an officer may change some people...But what a lot of people don't understand is that when you clock out for the day and head home, you're still a cop....that is a 24hr a day job... Yes you can get killed doing your job, but you can get killed in an accident......Most officers who die in the line of duty try to be heroes, while letting their guard down or simply becoming complacent.

I wanted to get into law enforcement while I was in college, but wanted to party hardy first. I would LOVE to open up my own business...But working for $10 an hour (yes...I had to take this job). It would take some time to save up some money to start up.

No, I didn't get bullied in elementary school. Nor do I want this job to beat the shit out of people. I just feel that if given the chance, that I could serve my community very well....

I could never be the man, I would be a total hypocrite if I ever did.
There's too many laws that I disagree with and unjust ways of treating people that get justified by simply being a cop and living by their code of ethics which are ass backward IMO.

Im not saying we dont need cops, we do actually. Its just that Ive seen nothing but corruption and wrong doing outweigh the good things that come out of the police dept.

^Exactly!
The thing is, even 'good' cops that aren't corrupt, in the final analysis are the guard dogs of the elite. You might believe they're protecting the 'people' but all they're doing is perpetuating an oppressive system which has the only objective of subjugation of the populace.

Like I stated earlier...You don't see the good as much as you see the bad....

Police have been looked at a negative way for years....no matter how much good they've done. They've been frowned upon for the few that have taken advantage of their authority.

People remember the 40+ shots to Diallo more than the 30+ cops that died on 911 doing their job.

You hear about the shootings of that one dude @ the strip club more than the cop that risked his life this weekend diving into a gator infested canal trying to save a trapped motorist.
