Hey yall, god is truly good,
my grandfather(who is 94) as well as my 2 aunts and my mother have amassed a vinyal collection of over 1500 records just sitting in the actic.
My grandfather wants me to take them so he can clear space of the attick. WTF?? I was like sure!!!!!! Some of this is rare blues and jazz stuff as well as funk and soul(grandad was a jazz musician)
ANyway, i got myself and record player and im ready to get started
but
Where to start man.??? I know absoulty nothing about sampling, i might as well be starting all over again, well i know a little somehting about looping etc.. but what are some handy tricks and tips for a begginner. I mean i know how to chop and use sound forge, im more intrested throries of finding breaks, what to listen for ,etc....
Im kind overwhelemed casue there is so much good music here, i just want to loop shit.
The hardest part for me so far is the work flow, im used to just sitting down at the keys and going, but with this sampling thing u have to listen and find stuff, im not used to that
any handy tips would be much appericated.
Class..
P.S for my MPC heads, its it more effective for u to record direclty into the MPC amnd chop or chop on our computer. Ive been chopping on my computer using soundfourgae but it can be time consuming at times.
