I have always listened to Classical music for ideas on my strings and using timpanis, when I played in organized bands in School I used to think that was the most boring pieces to play and I really didn't appreciate it then, but I always like the timpanis and crashes of cymbals etc..... and some of the way it builds and then gets calm, I like my tracks to be dramatic too, like on my page with critical overload beat, I got a ton of beats like that though, anyhow just imagine if some of the great composers that had to think up everything in their heads, had to write each part and movement for each section and instrument in an orchestra to recite had access to a keyboard workstation like a Motif or Triton today, I think it would be mind blowing, I really don't think a lot of the music today can scratch the surface on some cats like Beethoven as far as getting really deep into sequencing except for maybe some cats that do film scores and really they aren't writing hundreds or thousands of compositions, I recently had this discussion with the musical director at Catholic University and we were talking about this in depth, what do you think would happen if some of the old composers were living today?
