It has nothing to do with genre, this isnt a personal preference im sharing, its FACTUAL.
The more you become aware of the mixing and mastering game, the more you realise that there is no differences in genre upon applying any of the beneficial processing ethics. There is NO such thing as a perfect near,mid or farfield, reference monitor dedicated to hiphop beats. lol..that bs.
Good monitors cater to all genre with additional criteria that genres like classical and jazz have a preference for monitors that dont hype at all and process through gear which is preferably of a transformerless design. But that same gear is perfectly suitable to use with the dance genre (which hiphop basicaly is). Its just that, lets say, a mackie hr would be fine, even though its hyped as hell, for hiphop but not for classical/jazz. High end outboard processing in 90% of the case caters to high range transparency(speed needed to articulate the transcients properly) and itb processing is perfect for dance (low end processing).
These are all facts!
Considering your point of view, do you really think people listen to hiphop the way us bedroom techies sit in our sweetspot in the display of nearfields ? People dont have nearfields in their car, in their livingroom or in the club. It safe to say that whomever is going to hear your music has a setup far from perfect and mostly commonly come close the range you redicule. The auratones/avatones shows you whats going on in your mix in the real world, which is a great aid.
