Yo i think in general its jus hard for certain people to be objective and pat tha winner on tha back if u feel me?....If i ever had a problem with tha voting i would say so too, but i never did before and i dont now, and this goes back to tha first ones i participated in when i was a equal participant in tha other battles but never even placed once! - See, i didnt even think twice about it tho, i jus tried to make a better beat each time and said fuck all that other silly nonsense!.........I wasnt in tha Metrosoul battle, so i dont kno how Fade conducted tha voting since he said that he let tha community vote that time?, But i think if he was to ever try that again it would make sense to still have a minimum vote requirement if yer voting and if yer not a real illmuzik head that jus wack, sorry.(I mean having at least that many votes does show some activity at tha least, and as a member you should contribute to adding to tha site as much as u do by frequenting tha rooms) I would have it set up jus like a typical poll that we can all make in our threads...You would only be able to vote once in each round...And maybe if there was reason to have a smaller vote pool, but still ALL memebers of tha community, there could be a sign up page for tha pool, and whoever signed up first with tha minimum requirements could make it in then it would close....I dunno, something like that? - But i dont think its absolutely nessecary, i think that tha way it is now is still 100% OBJECTIVE and they are people with their own opinions and tastes jus like you and me.

Just because I dont post on every single thread and post about everything doesn't mean that I am not a part of this community. I am in here reading the forums all the time and I post when I have an opinion that I think needs to be heard as was the case here.

guerva, i understand what your saying, but what does that story have to do with anything? i had just said before that we are NOT unhappy with our placing. i said that we are HAPPY with it. and just fyi it's my second one i've competed in, but i've been following every one since i've been a member.



but what i'm trying to make you realize is this. NEITHER SAMMY NOR I IS COMPLAINING ABOUT OUR PLACEMENT. we are more than content with a third place. we are not complaining that we didn't place high enough.

the only reason this thread is here is because someone thought it was a topic which should be talked about. ONCE AGAIN, NO ONE IS COMPLAINING ABOUT THEIR PLACEMENT.

this isnt any kind of campaign to get the places changed or ANYTHING like that.


it's just something we had an opinion on and we were curious why the entire community doesnt vote. we were given reasons, i agreed with them, and then i suggested something new. if theres no better solution then what we currently have, then thats that. it was JUST A TOPIC. NOT A COMPLAINT.

well...... to clear a few things up...

merc's my boy and i liked the beat all and i didnt vote for that beat at all because il liked other tracks better... and he and i have collaberated and are doing so again soon... so if anyone thinks there is bias present just throw that out the window.

and sammy, like i said i meant no offense to that comment at all, and im sorry if you took offense to it. and no, you dont have to post in every thread. 70 posts in one year doesnt show the type of senority and activity it would take to warrant the voting privelidge- i dont know about the rest of the mods, but i dont see that post count as high enough to warrant a vote. i wasnt questioning your membership- but in terms of warranting a vote, i doubt you would get in as is.

as far as someone with three votes having an ear for music, well you missed the point entirely- the point is you are saying that this is a community and the members should have the say as to the winner- but every member doesnt really deserve that privilege, and as tricky poited out that leads to soundclick-type situations. they may have an ear, but they dont get a vote just for that.

i understand you tricky, this is not a complaint but a suggestion and a topic that is, in my view worth discussing, but the format isnt likely to change that drastically. if anything, senior members could get a vote... who knows, but i dont think fade will budge here.

one more thing...

we judge on what we feel is the best beat... regardless of style.. regardless of location... and bruce, ALL of these beats HAD that east coast/underground feel anyways, so your statement was completely unwarranted.

and regardless of the process, someone who was deserving will always lose out... tahts just the nature of these things.

Man im sorry; thats jus close-minded...Thats a complete generalization about a specific event. - More so yer interpretation - keep yer ears open man...tha beats that get chosen are chosen for a reason, not because they have a eastcoast feel! Its a unanamous vote!(however u spell that?!) - And if they do, does it matter?...Tha best beat gets chosen! - Not tha dopest eastcoast beat, or whatever else u wanna catagorize peoples sound as!

First of all, I'd like to say again that the motive behind me starting this thread was not to complain about my placing in this and past beat this competitions. It is also not intended to diss the person who won this or past beat this competitions. I think that in all cases the beat that won was a great beat, but not the best.

Second, I don't think its fair to say that i don't deserve to vote here. If you're in a town and at town meetings someone goes to every meeting but stands and speaks at only a few of them, are you going to tell him that he is not a big enough part of the community to vote for mayor. "Oh Im sorry, you do come here a lot but Johnny over here not only comes to all the meetings but speaks at them too." It is true that I am not the most involved person on the site. But I am involved and put my two cents in when I think it's warranted.

Sammy, of course you have the right to vote (if we had members vote). What I would do is like the way it was a long time ago where in order to vote you had to have at least 20 posts. This is just to avoid people signing up with different names and voting for themselves, plus help promote a community.

I'm trying to remember what everyone was asking me here, but basically, the voting is staying the same for now. Remember when we had the Battle That! Competition? The Staff voted, and so did the members. But the Staff's votes counted for 60% of the total. Again, this was just to avoid having the wrong people win.

As for the way we vote right now for the Beat This! Competitions, it's simple:

Round 1:
We all pick 5 names from the entire list of competitors.

Round 2:
From those 5 names, we all pick 1.

Now of course there's always tie breakers, so we have separate votes for that as well. And then in the end we see who has the most votes out of those 5 and that's it. We used to have a point system but that didn't work that well, but we might try it again because last time we used the point system, there weren't nearly as many members and/or competitors that there are today.

So, just to clear things up: there are no biased votes ever. Whether we vote the way we do now, or whether we use points - either way the results will always be close. Look at one of the previous competitions: Producer Gyal had 2nd spot I think, then she dropped down to 4th or 5th. It's just the way the votes went. But then again, these competitions are meant to be FUN, and for everyone to break from the norm of just posting in the Showcase. Plus it gives everyone something to look forward to every month, right?

Like I said, I'm trying to remember what everyone's asking me so sorry if I didn't answer your question. (Plus I'm too lazy to go through all the posts again )
