it gives u flexablitity casue u can add/subtract soundmoules to your set up as u choose, basically it allows alot of flexabity. Soundmodules tend to be stronger then their workstation counter parts, and there size/flexabilitiy makes them ideal for a flexiblae set up,
I started with the motif rack and i recently added a fantom rack, it was just a matter of plugging in another midi cable....
Also ur using each piece of gear too its strenght, the MPC is known for its sequncer thats why most people cop it, motif is known for its sounds, thats why people use it etc...
So with that set up you use each peice of gear to its strength thats why u see alot of people with modular set ups like that.
U dont need to start off with a hardware soundmodule, u can cop a mpc 1000 a cheap MIDI controller and use reason as a soundmodule, reason has dope sounds
