Warzone Warzone Beat Battle - March 25-29, 2025

Lots of variety of beats for sure. I think the 2nd Round is going to be very interesting.

    Showcase SHOWCASE: March 23-30, 2025

I really like this sample! The intro transitions really well into the main groove. Then inverse of that transition from the "verse" could be a bit smoother though. There's a 2000s Ludacris feel to this that I really like - kinda like a beat Kanye did for him that has that southern bounce/funk...

    Showcase SHOWCASE: March 23-30, 2025

Drums hit hard with a sick groove! I really love the old school sound of this. Would like to hear the melodic samples a bit more forward in the mix as the drums seem a bit overpowering. Overall, great vibe!

    Congrats @Iron Keys !!!!

    What WAS your typical setup?

Acid Pro was sick...I wish they made a version for Mac. I started with 2.0 (maybe 3.0) as well. It was a cracked version, so no access to the loop library. I was using around early Kanye era and sampling had a big resurgence. The warping/stretching was amazing for sampling. What I really liked...

    SHOWCASE: March 9-16, 2025

Hey Bro, The weekend got away from me, so I didn't get to drop feedback on your two beats from last weeks thread. I'll say, I appreciate anybody that has the stones to post their music in a public forum...whether I like it or not. For what it's worth, here are my notes from your last two beats...

    SHOWCASE: March 2-9, 2025

@TONEzEP1K Rain Drops: I like the atmosphere the intro sets up. It's ominous and gives hints of something epic and grandiose to come. Not sure if the distortion/clipping was a creative choice, but it's a bit too much for my taste. The delicate piano breakdown is very nice - some transition...

    Beat This! Competition - March 5-6, 2025

Congrats @Delta Skeltah - your beat was on the shortlist for my vote but I went with @Remont Lots of cool beats in general. I had a bit of crisis trying to decide who to vote for lol

    SHOWCASE: March 2-9, 2025

Went digging through my external hard drive looking for some old archived sample packs, and came across a little EP I made back in 2017. This is right around when I started venturing into the realm of Lo-Fi so I may have went a bit overboard with grittiness. The acoustic guitar was recorded...

    It definitely worked!

    SHOWCASE: March 2-9, 2025

@BNNBMB The intro, while short, does a great job of getting your attention. I really like the old school vibe with the drums and vocal chops. You hit all the nostalgia buttons especially with the echoey chops. Aside from maybe a slightly brighter mix, this is really cool! @JM. I quite like...

In a beatmaking slump. Any advice?

Sorry, I had a shower thought after I made my original reply... ...This is more of a "philosophical" approach and are a couple ideas I've also borrowed from my corporate life and self development books I've read over the past couple years. Outcome Goals vs. Identity Goals - "Atomic Habits" by...

In a beatmaking slump. Any advice?

I like what others have mentioned in terms of changing genres. In addition I like to do a couple other things. 1. Break Up Your Session If you're like me, you may feel that all or the majority of the beat needs to be made in one session. This all or nothing approach to music is often where I...

    SHOWCASE: February 16-23, 2025

@Nebulune I really like the ambient/atmospheric intro and how you kept that going as you introduced more elements. Musically, this has a lot of emotion. Songs like this are testament that simple can be highly effective. While there are a few mix, and FX, decisions I would've done differently...

My Jamuary Attempt: What I Learned Making Beat Videos

Thanks! Man, it is a crazy amount of work! and I share your sentiment around burn out and the time/energy it demands of you to keep producing at a high volume AND high quality. And yeah, my 1 minute vides have about 5 minutes of video that gets edited down. If I'm recording myself playing 2...

My Jamuary Attempt: What I Learned Making Beat Videos

Definitely can see where the frustration is coming from. Music making/producing definitely has it cycles of peaks and troughs - and they vary in cycle from one aspect of the process to the other. Sound design is going well, but making music isn't. Music making is going well, but mixing is shit...
