Something I didn't know about that 7 Rings song

It's an interpolation - she's singing different lyrics to the exact melody of "My Favorite Things". Not the first time someone's done that. The legal action was completely valid, as interpolations require the same type of permission as samples, except they only require input from the writers of...

Looks a lot like that WeTransfer thing... any major differences?

What instrument is this? Madlib Sample

That's why it's important to discern between clean, fuzz, distorted, overdriven and other sounds possible on an electric guitar.

    Billy Cobham - "Heather"

I actually have a flac of this on my hard drive... might give it a shot or even just share the file with you guys through PM.

What kind of interface do you have?

The huge mixers you see in professional studios are far from the only mixers around, though.

What kind of interface do you have?

@Fade They offer models with more inputs, the range goes up to 24 for the biggest one.

    J. Cole's new single Middle Child samples from Tracklib

I've bought some stuff from Tracklib back when it first came out and had a decent discount for bulk purchases. I don't go there often as my usual sample library is already plentiful, but I love how you can just grab individual channels from a song and get them as you wish without having to try...

What kind of interface do you have?

For DJing, a mixer is pretty much a must, a lot better for such a setup and should work well with a PC as a sound card. I use a Steinberg UR22 MkII for a typical PC-based setup (MIDI controller, headphones, speakers, you know the drill; might post in the setup thread one day). It does just what...

Attack of the Beats! - Battle #163

Thanks so much for the review! That sound in the background is from an early 20th century record with a bunch of US military bugle calls on it. I'm pretty sure they get a bit louder later on in the full version, but I didn't want to overdo it because it was meant for vocal accompainment. You're...

Apollo Brown Makes All of His Beats with 20-Year-Old Software

On a side note, I gave Cool Edit Pro 2.0 another spin on my dad's 64-bit Windows 10 PC and it seems to work just fine. I can barely do anything with it, but that's just because I haven't learnt how to use it - Audacity is good enough a destructive audio editor for me. Therefore, Apollo Brown...

    Showcase - January 14-20, 2019

@Marc Duncan That first beat seems a bit too compressed - there doesn't seem to be much "space" for vocals, but it's good otherwise. I like the drums a lot. Lately I've been on a roll with hard sample finds... here's a recent beat:

Yeah, I've been told that dozens of times... Still amazed at how well FL Studio 12 ran on that weakling of a PC.

That's just the thing with professional equipment - most of the good stuff lasts really long and as much as new products might look enticing, you usually don't need it. Hell, I was on Windows XP and 2 GB of RAM until Summer 2018.

Congrats, @djfeedme - that beat really stood out! Honestly, all the other ones weren't even close to it.

New beat maker / producer from Germany: The Echo Lair

Welcome, this is just the place to be! By early electronic music, do you mean stuff like Kraftwerk or earlier, more experimental styles like musique concrete and tape music?

    FL Studio export low quality

It's most likely due to dynamic range compression and the use of limiters that make music appear louder by reducing the the difference between the loudest and quietest points above a certain threshold. The music you listen to has been mastered and thus made loud, while yours most likely haven't...

@C-RuZe The mix definitely is off, the melody, although decent, is far too quiet. I like the bitcrushed snare, though, not too often that you hear those.

Got a track meant for an MC, so I'm not bothered if it's kind of repetitive. Straight chops with some layering through the verses and later choruses. Will give feedback once the posts pile up.
