    What is the best DAW?

All of them can get the job done. Fl is a great place to start. Reaper is cheap and powerful. The best DAW is the one you know the best.

    Hardware Synths

You know software for amp sims is soooo good these days I will either use software or a real amp, no need for any hardware emulators. Maybe the fractal audio stuff. But look at BIAS or Amplitude 4 or Eleven for Pro tools. But Sgear is the best one out right now.

    Hardware Synths

I love hardware but with software synths like Diva and Native Instruments Monark I just don't see a huge need for hardware synths.

    Studio Monitors

See this is a perfect example, see how colored the Yamaha and KRK's are. The JBL is by far superior. Personally I think I will replace my Event's with these http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Alpha80 these in 2016

    Studio Monitors

You need to understand the history of the yamahas. Their roots are in hi fi not in pro audio. See http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/sep08/articles/yamahans10.htm So I am not a fan of them for general mixing. I currently have event 20/20's that I like but I am upgrading to focals soon. The three...

    Studio Monitors

Sure they are better than PC speakers no doubt. But they do suck. Bugsy whats your top budget and we will find you something good.

    Studio Monitors

No the Yamaha's suck balls. The bad news is that any set of speakers under $500 is all about the same. So if you can't come up with more money then just pick one, it really doesn't matter all that much. Then a proper treated room does make a HUGE different, but get some decent speakers first...
