    Yeah, the 2000 has timestretch but the 1000 you can mix different programs together. Like use the snare from on set of sounds and the hi hat from another set of sounds.     It all depends what your price range is, but I think you would get more out of a sampler like the mpc1k that would hit you for like $879. They also have some Korg samplers for $269 and I dont know anyone who has one so I can tell you how they are. Or maybe check out a keyboard like the yamaha...

    I have cousins who are really into gospal rap and have there own group. The problem I have is that you have to make it clear to what your message is otherwise its just another rap song if the message isnt clear.
