He're another quick reason tip for those of us who can't play a bassline to save your life. When you got your samples all chopped up in recyle make 2 copies of them. make 1 with the bass cut and make 1 with the bass heavy. Now take your 1 without bass and freak it like your normally due add...

    REASON TIPS & TRICKS THREAD!!!

I don't post here much but check out my tutoral on drums here, I wouldn't make a copy of the same drums over and over, but there's more than 1 way to skin a cat. http://www.hiphopproduction.com/main.php?pageid=article&articleid=bhrr&menu=4 Also make a starting rack with all the effects...

LOGIC PRO 7 VS. ENSONIQ ASR-10 & VST SYNTHS

Logic is very good you will be able to do all of that in logic as long as you have a decent midi controller and know how to program your drums to hit like that. You can use to of Logics plug ins to get that sound.

    Ensoniq ASR-10

Yes you have way more fitlering options, but the ASR will cut with its filters wayy better thatn the fantom and I have yet to see a until with effects beat out the ASR in the effects department expect for dedicated effects procesors. DOn't get me wrong the Roland has some of the best effects...

    Ensoniq ASR-10

Yeah its hard to admit to it, because I was a ASR user 1st, but when it got down to using them. The 4k was give me much more low end when it came to making a bassline out of a sample and the 4k has way more options. The 4k doesn't get that many props in that area, but Its a winner there.

    Ensoniq ASR-10

I have a ASR-10 and its does have a very good sound, but I prefer my MPC 4000 to it, but if thats all you can afford then I suggest that you look into it. The learning curb is pretty steep but once you get inside of it you will enjoy what you can do. There is no screen to see your sample its...

A more dirtyer sound in Reason 3?

you can use filters and EQ's on the samples to make them thinner and get more out of the distortion module either turn it up, or find some better settings. Or you can rewire it into Cool edit and use some VST effects, but then again, you will find it pretty hard to find a better distorion...

    Kurzweil K2500

I got to mess with like a rack kuzweil before. I forgot which one, but they guy at the guitar center told me hands down this was the best keyboard out. Its a monster to learn, but its has everything on the market beat and its old. You don't hear of to many hip hop producers using it, but I"m...

    Is it worth it?

You got to have those outs. Productivty is higher, and if you sale a beat to sombody in your area, they might want to come and track it there(also a place so showcase more beats so you want to do this)and you have to bring your own MPC. If you don't have the outs you will be there for a while...

    Purchasing an MPC

I use my MPC as a stand alone station. I really don't do to much time strechting and I use a jv-1080 as a sound moule. You can get buy with just a MPC, I'm not knocking anybody, but on a lot of boards I see people making comments who don't have 1k and are listing to people who haven't put the...

    I found my new beatmachine

I don't think the target is our market. But I wouldn't be suprised if Just blaze bought one. I know he generally buys a lot of new gear. Thats one of his hobbys

Lets Say You Make It Big....

I would stick to what I had, but I would refine it. Buy legit plug'ins and add logic, protools or nuendo for audio work. But I wouldn't suggest to much of a change up. Look at havoc. I really haven't been feeling his recent production, then I found out that he switched gear. I know he was...

pete rock baselines rock baselines plugin?

Like above you already have what you need. IN FL and reason have filters and eq's When I was into FL I would use the EQ's in soundforge to take out the highs and boost the low, then I would filter it in some order like that. The point is I'm sure you have what you need, just pratice.

Whats your Process when CHoppin Samples ?

I generally stay in the trim mode for the 1st 3 chops, so I can get an Idea of what goes with what. then once I can get a least a 2 bar melody, I go back and and extract stuff out and fitlter it, chop it, pitch whatever, That is generally good enough to make melodies, but the best way for me...

what do you look for when sampling?

I geneally don't have any idea what I'm going to sample, it just kind of sticks out. when I hear a passage that has good basic elements in it(chords, with keys or strings on top, and when they hold and change notes). Also I like to sample when its not to busy, so I can add to it. Sampling is...

Question About The Basics Of Sampling?????

I get a lot of samples when I'm just listinging. I try to go for 10 records and try to get about 20 good samples. After that I loop then in cool edit, and chop them in recycle. If I'm using reason on the MPC, I play the snare on the 2 and 4 and play with the samples. If I'm using REason, I...

    Need Help Making Bassline....??

AL uses a MOOG which is a analog synth. The romplers(triton, motif, fantom) have a long way to come before they can be ass good as the bass on analog. I haven't had a chance to mess with a Fantom, but I'm sure it has some moog patches on it. Try those out and mess with the EQ's on it, this...
