Midi Keyboard Connection Problems

I just bought a new Evolution 449C midi controller. The set up instructions say that if I'm using Windows XP (which I am), I dont need to install any drivers and I can just plug it in and be off. The keyboard plugs in through the USB port, which also powers it. The connection is working...

Ok thanks. Going through the amp? Does that mean just going through the stereo? I also bought a brand new Evolution 449C yesterday and set myself back lamost half a G, so I can't really spend money on a mixer, unless i can get one under $50.

^ok I fixed it, and i can hear it, but it sounds very shit, it's too distorted and loud and etc etc. Do I need to run it through the stereo amplifier first?

ok, right on everyone @nas i used the Wavelab function and it came out fine. @vitamin yea i also discovered playin around in Cubase just before that it has a time stretch function. THanks to all I appreciate it.

Changing Tempo?

I use Cubase Sx, and ive tried to make my first sampled track, but I can't slow it down. When I do change in the main control bar the numbers from 120 to 100, the only thing that changes are the tempo of the VST's in the sequencer, but everything else that i imported into the program stays at...

E-Bay users, please help out!

I've decided to buy a MIDI keyboard. I got an option of either buying a brand new one from local stores, cheapest one is US$200. Thats an Evolution one. Second option is buying something of e-bay, I've found keyboards for US$50-$70 and I'd purchase them today if I could, but I'm too chicken...

How do you start your production??

^ what do u mean by that? i'm pretty new to production (few months), im guessing that you're meaning slowing the melody down to match the drums? but could u elaborate please, i'm keen to soak knowledge !

How do you start your production??

I've found it very hard or impossible in fact to do a melody first and then put the drum on top of it. For example i've sampled a few nice melodies of a couple of songs, and when i tried to put the drums on top of it it came out wizzzy wack, so i just usually start with the drums.
