haha, yeah in modern Chinese it could almost mean that. Classical Chinese is a bit different. It's like each character has a myriad of meanings and references. Like how dao has a deeper meaning than just road or path.- Sincock

Yeah, it is the closest translation. The word 道dao is usually translated as way, or path or road but in the context of the text I quoted, (道德经 dao de jing), it has more and deeper meanings in the sense of the way being your destination also. Actually this thread reminded me that I had a record of medieval music that I hadn't listened to yet. It's got some good stuff, you know harpsichord, lute and shit. -
