    try T racks, its decent and affordable, as is soundforge 6, or 7, and wavelab 4 & 5, but since you asked for the best, then IMO its Waves series. they have a price tag to say why too, so be warned.

    when ur nodding ur head like crazy, maybe have 3 or 4 versions of ur tweaking, ut let the original be as it is,when u decide to add stuff. i guess you can always add to any track. i listen to some stuff on Cd or radio i really like, yet in my head i could still add stuff to it.

    i just look for good kits, good snares are hard to find, but i think im just being a bit lazy cos, you can EQ average snares to sound phat if u know what ur doing, ..since i just me a Rolana fantom i dont think i need to go splash out on sample CD's apart from Drum sample CD..talking of sample...

    there are many types of producers, if ur training to be one..best to find out which one! there are even producers that have received producer credits being just Music journalists, but have been so inspirational on a particualr album that they received producer credits, not just as a one off...
