MPC 3000, ASR 10, Pro Tools w/ McDSP, Waves, and URS Bundles, Roland V-Synth & Fantom X7, a moog, Alesis Andromeda, and ADAM monitors...a couple of S3A's, a Sub 12, and some 2.5A's. throw in a couple of neve 1073 reissues and a LA2A and i'm good.
its not always about gazillions of features for everyone...some people need everything in the 1 box and some people don't. i'm still a believer that its better to be an expert at 1 thing than a jack of all trades and good at a lot of things, and that's how i'd compare the mv and mpc4k. the mv...
i like the 4k more...the 4k's sequencer is the business and its just an incredible machine...but if you really need everything 100% in one box- like mixing and mastering stuff- than the mv is a better call.
listening to new types of music is always good, but i'd generally just say I don't believe in the whole stay in the box way of thinking. you may think your clients only want one type of beat, but thats just because its all they know...you haven't showed them the future yet, you dig? the bottom...
i agree with a lot of the suggestions so far...salaam remi, nottz, dj toomp, hi-tek. denaun porter maybe?
you know who would be a crazy interview is brian kidd. he taught polow da don how to make beats and apparently did a lot of ghostproduction for timbaland around 99-03 and he's blowing...
just a question...why do tracks from the heart have to be sad? i think it can go both ways, good life by kanye is a great example of a track that seems from the heart but is extremely upbeat. thats actually one of the things i've always respected ye for, you can tell his music is straight from...
in general i'd say read up a little more on specific things than something like this...this is geared towards engineers doing rock mixes back in the 80's. i'd try reading some of the articles we have posted in the resources section here on compression, eq, reverb. just understand the basics of...
huh? FL is a sequencer man. i did full beats with it back when i used it, i dont know what drum beats has to do with FL. if you think mainstage is a good program because it does something logic can't, i can see that, but ableton did it 2 years ago with live's racks and elastic audio.
most...
its cool and all if you do live work, but i don't- i can use all of logic's plugs and synths in logic and sequence them there as well. i don't really get why they didn't integrate it more with logic- i.e. be able to save a keyboard layer/split patch from multiple AU's and use it in logic- that...
right now its for live performance only..its basically like a synth rack where you can load and play VST's but not sequence them. i guess if you're dj'ing and wanted to throw some of your own playing on top you could use it for that, but its kinda useless right now. if they integrate it into...
if you have a time stamped attachment of the song that you can download in court along with session files, i have a hard time believing that it would be thrown out. unlike physical mail, you can't tamper with a 6 month old gmail message.
congrats swiv great to see you doing your thing. i'm excited to hear new stuff from pharrell cause he's been pretty quiet since that clipse cd dropped.
i heard a little rumor about pharrell, lupe, and kanye doing an album together soon....i'm really hoping that comes true.
yeah man just stay on your grind, i wouldn't pay this dude too much mind. send him an email and see what's up but you cant sue someone over soundclick.
on the issue of copyrights, a little bit of knowledge i found very helpful from a more experienced producer: technically you do have a...
if its a friend, you can definitely disregard some of what i said but what i would say, from personal experience, is make sure the contract is drawn up well, not even so much to protect yourself but to protect the friendship. what i mean is, make sure he understands and signs off on the fact...
that seems kind of strange. dude wants to throw 10k at something with no backend, and knows nothing about the business. haha you either found everyone's dream investor or someone who is going to change the terms when contracts are about to get signed. just be aware that people who invest love...
yeah it is incredible man, i love it. maybe the best part is they've already updated mainstage, which is a really good sign. maybe it won't be 1 or 2 years between bugfixes and updates anymore.
whatever you do, be super careful with your publishing man. upfront payments are nice and all but if you think the project has a chance of getting good airplay or royalties, make sure your publishing is in order. creative control is another thing to consider, if they're asking for that, just...
if you're going to mastering never cross -6db before the mastering guy touches it. People think to get a loud final mix they need to give the mastering people like a -3 or -2db mix, but that actually works against you. for the mastering guy to have room to do some real dynamics processing and...
