    No fantom you don't need a pre amp for your mic if your board has phantom power. Thats false man , pre amps don't color the sound. If you want warmth get a compressor not a preamp.

    Its a pretty nice investment not just for traveling but for when you go diggin at your local record store. You can take it with you and play the records your interested in buying.
