    I don't usually do trap but thought I'd switch it up. Usually work with 4 lines per beat on Renoise but had to make it 16 so I could get all those 16th and 32 notes on the hats!

    Yeah I'm sure that's true, my mate who works in the shop is always banging on about how the quality is better because they manage the supply chain end to end and use al their own kit. But for the layman like me HP will have to do right now!

    Depends what you need it for. Renoise + Windows work perfectly well for me making hip hop and house beats. If I was recording with artists and so forth than it might be worth it scaling up to Logic as it's a more well rounded DAW. I'm a big fan of Logic less so of Mac OS matrix.

    When I lived overseas I had a little Akai travel keyboard 2 octaves. Fit in the suitcase easy but damn I missed not being able to voice out chords properly. Keys were crap on it too, it looked like my first keyboard.

    Not really a lesson but I keep telling myself I need to train my ear to hear intervals in keys. I know basic music theory but I can't listen to a song and hear the pitch. My mum is a music teacher and she can listen to any song and tell you the key and every chord. It's like having a computer brain!

    Completely agree. If you're not thinking and challenging yourself you're not learning. It may sound sad but I like listening back to songs I made years ago because I feel a sense of accomplishment. Don't think I'd have that feeling if I just stacked a few loops in the same key on top of each other.
