Who/How/What To Study Regarding Music Production

Not having access to formal education isn't a good excuse in 2020. 20-30 years ago that would pass. Now everything you could possibly need is on the internet. You can find things to read, videos to watch, whosampled to identify and even search for samples etc. Honestly you don't even have to pay...

    How many beats you making???

IMO probably the best thing to do when not feeling creative is find beats to remake. I almost always get inspiration when I'm tweaking sounds trying to match them to an existing beat. I end up getting sidetracked making some other beat with some sick new preset I made.

    How many beats you making???

For myself, to make a good beat and do it it's justice mixing and all that- takes at least 6-8 hours from start to finish. If I had everything on my DAW's set up nice and streamlined with a bunch of nice presets I already made I could shave some time off that. Realistically, on a day off I'll...

    I'm 3ternal...

I always take breaks, that's just life. By shaking off the dust I mean that was the first beat I sat down and made to a passable level in like 6-7 years. I haven't been making beats like I used to. I've been interested in learning to play instruments, read and write music in that time. I...

    I'm 3ternal...

I use Reason 5.0 and FL 20. I only use FL for Edison. Reason is my main DAW though I'm pretty capable in either. I just hate FL's user interface vs. Reason's. As for the YouTube comment, I wasted about a good 2-3 years wandering through FL, barely knowing how to use it. It was a lot of clicking...

    Yo I'm Maxendio

My number one piece of advice is to always be remaking other people's beats. Take any artists you want, find beats of theirs that you estimate to be within your range of abilities and get to work. You'll learn so much and get inspired that way. You'll: 1. Learn which songs are being sampled...

    I'm 3ternal...

LOL just introducing myself. Three is my lucky number and 'E.1999 Eternal' is my favorite album (production wise) and the one that really made me contemplate the idea of making beats, hence '3ternal'. I've been learning everything to make beats, and experienced roughly 7-8 years. That however...

Can somebody (probably a drummer) explain what's going on in this video?

Firstly thank you for that video you're a bad MF for doing all that. So he's just using the chopped kicks to accentuate the guitar strumming?

    How many tracks?

One thing I've learned is less is more. People on the internet sites will almost always say you need to add more of this and more of that, but there are so many great songs that are simple. But if you don't have many things going, those few things need to be mixed very well and made to sound huge.

Can somebody (probably a drummer) explain what's going on in this video?

I've never seen that before and can't quite get my head around exactly what's going on at a little after :40.
