    Beat Blocked

Yeah I never understand why I make a dope-ass beat one minute and then the next beat is not even CLOSE to being that level. I think it's just ears playing tricks on you after awhile. But I don't think no producer is consistent. Look at Dr. Dre and how he's fallen off around 2002-2004....look at...

    quasimoto...WTF?!?!

Based on your music style, you will definitely love Illogic (dude doesn't even swear in his songs). They don't have a group name but Illogic has a couple of albums out (Unforeseen Shadows, Celestial Clockwork) all produced by Blueprint. I only have Unforeseen Shadows and even though it's not...

    quasimoto...WTF?!?!

It's all about appeal and marketing. People doesn't want to hear something complicated because music (espeically "rap") isn't supposed to be...as people put it. They just want a quick club-banger with simple rhymes that 13 year-old White Teenage girls can sing along to. It's really what it is...

    why i like sampling(a composer's view)

I don't really listen to the radio so I don't know why you guys are talking about...but from what I have heard...it seems like the radio songs are just bunch of cheap sounding keys with catchy melodies.

    why i like sampling(a composer's view)

Another very good point. I NEVER sample old soul/blues records...most of my samples are obscure Italian/French soundtracks and music. But you have to realize most of Hip-Hop is based on loops...that's the beauty of it. If you buy a Gangstarr or Rza instrumental album, it's basically all loops.

    why i like sampling(a composer's view)

Sampling is beautiful....I have found some really beautiful obscure music just to listen to...not only to sample. And it's a lot harder than people think.

Who u think Is The Greatest Hip Hop Producer

Well...at first Kanye was just average in my opinion...but lately his work on Common's Be and Game's Documentary really changed my mind. His song has become more melodic, and his arrangements in his songs is amazing. Necro is probably the most underrated producer out there. He has an ear for...

Anyone got this problem with beats?

Yeah I think that's great advice because on my instrumentals they don't really have an intro/hook/ending....it's just a loop that goes on for a minute and then it cuts off. But with an acapella I always have everything down and a vision.

Anyone got this problem with beats?

I have been frustrated that the remixes that I do are always MUCH better than my instrumentals. I don't know why, but it seems like without an acapella I don't have as much motivation, there isn't any direction in which to carry the track. Any of you guys feel this way?

    bass?

Well...I have a question I'm pretty new to the bass game and I seriously am lost according to how this thing works. I just have no clue how to make bass in general. Most of my songs have bass in them, but they're mostly samples in which I chopped up and EQed and filtered. The thing is...

    flip the showcase

.....no...that doesn't make any sense...Hip-Hop is mostly loops anyways
  14. B

    drums or melodys first?

Well...I think it's always harder to let the melody lead. It's hard to think of a drum pattern that will fit. THe other way around is better, it's a lot easier for me to make the melody fit...because you can speed it up/slow it down however you want it.

    Worst production

Come on now...a lot of producers are like that...that's just nitpicking. One of the best qualities a producer can have is knowing what is a good sample and what isn't...just look at Rza or Just Blaze.

    What is it with acapellas?

It happens to me...I have only done 1 perfect remix of a song. It sucks because I never use the BPM...I just usually do it by ear. THe BPM is just for the drums, but usually I'll change the tempo of the beat and adjust the placement of the vocals for it to match the best. I'm curious how guys...

    Beats on Rap Albums

Maybe it's because most of Hip-Hop is wack as all Hell right now???? I find myself listening to Hip-Hop less and less these days...it's great that I got into producing...because it definitely introduced me to many different types of music.

Who do you get the best feedback from...

All I'm trying to say is that if you trying to bump a RZA beat to a strange who is new to Hip-Hop...then there is a GREAT chance that he/she will not like it. Then how do guys like Rza and Primer go around judging their beats then?? You don't see no 17 year old White girls bumping "Come Clean"...

Who do you get the best feedback from...

You mean people who aren't into Hip-Hop?? People who just listen to whatever's on MTV or the radio?? What if you're making a Wu-Tang sounding beat then?? Of course they're not gonna like it. Just my opinion though
