Yeah that's the one. I hear a bunch of other spots that sound good, but it's just a nice song overall to just listen to. So smooth.J Dilla actually flipped this (Sunbeams, part at the end @ 3:30)...
I agree. Such good music to vibe to. Joe is in a group called The Crusaders that’s really good. Check them out if you haven’t already.Yeah that's the one. I hear a bunch of other spots that sound good, but it's just a nice song overall to just listen to. So smooth.
Post in showcase, don't worry about things being perfect. Years ago if I made a really good beat and couldn't match it with another it really took a toll on my creativity altogether. I'd end up not making anything at all, loads of practice time lost to feeling sorry for myself and ending up feeling miserable as a result. Some of us do have decent monitoring setups and can probably hear things you are missing with your setup. I'm always open to give tips and my opinion. Just post it and tag me and I will always try to help.Nice one @2GooD Productions look forward to hearing it.
I'm in between getting my setup sorted (for mixes) and procrastinating/not posting anything unless it's perfect.
Last night I uploaded as soon as I finished my beat cause I knew otherwise I wouldn't post it afterwards. Low and behold the mix was not only not great but all over the place. Even with Sound ID Reference enabled my high end is tinny and my low end is non existent. I've spent bit of time today messing with my setup. The issue I have is I'm mixing entirely in headphones because the kids are generally sleeping in the other rooms. However I was actually going to post on here asking if there was something I could do that doesn't involve turning my room in to padded cell but just enough so that I can produce with my monitors at low volume.
I'll post a better mix shortly.
Great post and it's appreciated. I resonate with all of it. Not making beats when feeling miserable is definitely a thing. Listening to music definitely helps and it's something I do every day regardless.Post in showcase, don't worry about things being perfect. I find it very hard to get in the mood to make music when I'm miserable. For your mental health, don't let it get you down, keep up the grind. Don't just delete shit, because what you might not be feeling today, you might be able to improve upon another day when you are more in the zone.
A painter I delivered to many many years ago told me "Never throw away any of your art". Advice I took to heart. It's a way I can look back and see my progress. That alone shows me that all the hard grind wasn't for nothing. It provides me encouragement to just keep going.
I still get into ruts, and can go weeks without being able to get in the mood, but I never give up, I do other things for a while.
Nothing gets me to want to get back into it like listening to music does, especially some of my old favourites, reminds me how much I love hip hop.

Posting in showcase I get but since I moved in October I've not had a proper good setup and my mixes have sounded like I created, so feels pointless. I know I do need to post more and get involved in battles - it's generally just easier not to.
Cheers!
thanksDope flip man
Now this one is Jazz, which can be tricky to sample, but check out the entire song for little parts to grab. FLIP IT!
