Yes. So no ads, no nothing. Can extract audio, can extract in all formats that you want, can extract audio unchanged in the original format. Everything a nerd needs.

Usage:

# Video download:

# Download audio only:

youtube-dl -x https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n3SWZJhWFz0

nice and easy, its a pain using online converters, been looking for something like this, much respect.
Shame its python and not c++, I havent gotten around to learning python yet, would have liked to look under the hood at the code.

If you know C++, Python will be easy to learn. The other way around is harder.

Nice! The --batch-file option is also really helpful for downloading a list of songs.

EDIT: @Fade broken styles above. --batch-file is what I wanted to say.

Free alternative would be OBS, Open Broadcaster Software.
Its used for livestreaming, but is also capable of screen recording.

Interestingly it doesnt eat up that much ressources like most of tools just for screen recording.(talkin bout free ones only)

Just buy a cheap mixer at the pawn shop and run the signal into it and back out onto a recording program.

It has a browser addon that gives me a button on the webpage to dl audio, Works on yt, soundcloud and others. Converts to flac, mp3, wav and others. Much better quality.

That youtube-dl isn't just command line. Theres a GUI for it. https://github.com/yt-dlg/yt-dlg

Really good for batch downloading, and works like a hot damn if thats what you want to do. No frills, stupid graphics, ads and wont give your computer aids like a lot of the browser based shit. Only limiting factor is its pretty limited on filetype
