You guys ever work on music besides hip hop?

I DJ in a band, kind of like a jam band/funk/rock, I use the MPC, an effects box, and a turntable.. I love it, cause it gives the overall sound a whole new edge...

also, yesterday, I met with this girl who plays guitar and sings, and man, she is so talented! I recorded her, than laid some percussion elements (live rhythm shaker, tambourine) and I'm going to play the drums and bass on the track. I think it's good to produce other styles once in a while, it leaves you with new ideas and shit for the next track..

how bout the rest of the fam? You guys ever mess with other styles?

I honestly don't think I create true Hip Hop music yet. My style is more experimental, as I am still learning how to structure my songs. I attempt R&B every once in a while.

I play all sorts of different music...I can somewhat play the drums and both bass and lead guitar. When im on my keyboard though I ususaly only make hip hiop beats...sometimes I make some kinda crazy techno beats but not to often. I think its good to play around with other styles though cuz it helps me in my producition for all

That's ILL man, I once had this jewish kid and his father in the lab, I tracked them doing some traditional hebrew music over some bongos and acoustic guitars.... karazy vocals...

i used to program some drums for a rock group and add soundscapes and backdrops to their music while i was livin upstate ... i did a rock/electronica joint hat got shopped to the Grizzlies( the nba team i forgot what city they are in now i know it was vancouver but i think its diffrent now) but i guess they ended up not takin it because i never heard from them

I play the drums in a instrumental/funk/ambient/rock band with 3 other friends - we spend most of our time just jamming/improvising without writing anything down - its all really casual.

I love being able to work like that, everything is just spur-of-the-moment and you play whatever you feel. Playing live with friends influences my production [and vice versa actually], widens my musical influences and generally is really fun messing about and combining different genres. We each influence eachother too, as we all have different musical preferences and backgrounds.
