because it makes the listeners more intelligent. and then we wouldnt be so easily to manipulate into following the latest new trend and spend all our money on trying to be "Cool".

Money is the predominant figure here man, its just unfortunate thats the way shit is.
The dollar bills more important to many people out there in the music industry versus growing artists and respecting the integrity of their work.

I mean, thats how its always been actually - its just mutated into a far more viral version of what it once was. Because the game wasn't as saturated with all the commodified garbage thats out here now which left a little wiggle room for the artist. Now that rooms gone unfortunately.

I have to disagree to an extent, because I don't think there are many "real" artist that stay on the bottom. Nevertheless this is an ongoing debate of Underground v.s. Mainstream, in which I am a fan of both.
Can you name a couple of the "real" artist you are talking about, and maybe I'll be able to tell you why they are not going to go anywhere.....
It's not always mainstream B.S. that holds artist back, it is the artist themselves who hold themselves back.... as an artist you have to be able to connect to a broad range of fans to get the most exposure, and most(not all) underground artist usually don't.

There are still good music out there NOT JUST HIP HOP... but music in general. You got to get the clouds up out of your head and breathe in some fresh air.

Some of these dudes ain't old enough to "hate the game", they haven't been doing it long enough. If you do good music and you've been rejected by "mainstream" then you might have a legit complaint but if you haven't really tried to do this shit on another level "STFU" and make some music.

The site is called "ILLMUZIK", we should be hearing some ILL music, talking about some ILL music networking on some ILL music and celebrating some ILL music and collaborating on some "say it with me now" "ILLMUZIK".

Lately there's been 10 negative threads to every informative one. The balance is way outta wack!

Try this on for size: BECAUSE WE GOT WAY MORE WHINERS THAN GRINDERS. In every city I've ever been in there's an underground hip hop community, doing shows and selling CD's and what not. When is the last time you supported them with more than lip service and text? Do you support them financially so they can keep putting out that good music. Blank CD's, Jewel cases, Art work and CD burners don't grow on trees. U gotta support these dudes by more than mouth and text in order for them to get on.

DAMNNNNNNNNNNNNN!

Yo bro, chill out...its a legit question to ask. No need to scare off every new member on the site...

ahhhhhhhhhhhh.....not another one of these!

LDB, aren't you the same guy that told underground cats to stay out of mainstream threads?

C'mon, let the other members have their thread, you have yours. All I'm saying is ayr0n is a new member, he's feeling out the community to see how it is, that's all. Fair is fair. :)

the Hip Hop i grew up on in the 80s, offered resistance, and opened ur eyes to things that we dont even think about 2day... the Gov't doesnt want resistance... the question to the record companies is: how can we make money, yet at the same time get very little resistance from the masses... it was more well rounded 20 yrs ago... now, its not "politically correct" to talk political... it wont get played... also, if i see one company havin succes with a certain style of music, im gonna jump on it and do it too... copycatting is in... ask Roland...lol
