You have mad choices and you'll get mad answers from different folks. Things you need to consider are; cost, what you want to do with it, learning curve if any, your style. The bottom line is you want something that works for you. If you have no style yet, it's easy, any sampler will work for you. The most popular for newbies is the MPC1000 for hardware and Fruityloops studio and Reason for software. Do some research, you won't regret it.

Good lookin out, I feel I need something pretty cheap cuz i'm only 16,nd sumthin not dat hard 2 use. How much is da mpc1000 goin 4 and how hard is it 2 use. Im willin 2 put in as much time as possible 2 learn how 2 masta these jumpoffs. I been luvin beats since I wuz like 5. From age 6 to like 12 I wuz in the studio in Mt. Vernon and New Rochelle wit Pete Rock, cuz my pop's wuz in a group called InI, but nobody neva sat down 2explain 2 me what I needed to do 2 really get anything popped off.

Yeah, I think the MPC1000 is cool for beginners. I've never used the 1000, but it seems pretty easy to get in and out of. I think they're going to like $800 - $900. tHIS MUZIK thing ain't cheap dog. good luck and congrats on having the drive to get into this game.

I heard the 1000 is good to work with a computer. But I would say start off with one thing and learn the ins and outs. Luckly for me my cuzin has an 2000xl so when i was intrested i would play around wit it and im still learnin its only been a couple of months. Jus try to focus on one thing, thats what i say.

I would start out with some cheaper easier to use eqpt. THis way once you start to figure out what the hell it is you are doing you will know exactly what type of equiptment you are gonna wanna rock. When I first started producing my ideal set up is a lot different then it is now!!

ini was the shit (fakin jax film clip was cool)....... anyway if you have a computer (i assume you do seeing you're on this forum) you can use it real easy to make beats. If you are a sample based producer (or looking to be) battery (native instruments) is good. you can use this inside sonar, cubase, fruity loops etc. if you want hardware mpc 2000xl or mpc60 are both good options (also have sequencers

Yo cuz on some real shit, I think you should cop an Esnoniq EPS16+. It goes for around $300 on ebay and has mad sampling capabilities! I like the thick analog-type sound it produces as well. After learning this, you should be able to upgrade to an ASR-10 with no problem. The ASR-10 is one of the best samplers out there IMO and if you learn the EPS16, the ASR-10 shouldn't be much of a hassle.
