Winter Olympics

I just happened to be up and caught the introduction ceremonies to the Winter Olympics and had to post something about it. It was really amazing considering the state that the world is in right now to see all of these countries walk together into the arena smiling and waving was something I was not expecting to be moving to me.. But I was amazed. I've been bitter for a long time from seeing and experiencing things and this really rejuvinated my being. Maybe it's just me being sober but to hear all the references stressing peace, toward the end, amoungst most every country in the world brought a tear to my eye. And then again when Pavorrati busted out those heart wrenching masterful notes, it definetly snuck up on me. If I didn't see it for myself I don't know how i'd respond to this post if reading it.. but it was deep. I've never paid much attention to the Olympics before, is anyone watching it this year? and what are your teams and sports? We have many many people from all over the world here at the ill, it would be interesting to see who is supporting who and who will be getting the medals

well of course im going for USA .....but also Chile(my dad is from), Czech Repulic and Germany(my mom side).... its gonna be something to watch

Yeah it's good to see them all come together, although I didn't see the torch light up at the end, I turned it off because their ceremony was way too long. I've always liked the Olympics, plus it's funny seeing the countries that send 1 or 2 athletes!

haha yeah my favorite country was the Mongolians.. that team looked awesome with their huge animal hats they just looked happy.. there was one guy in there that looked like a healther uncle from that one guy in Big Trouble In Little China. haha for some reason they reminded me of Japanese Anime

Of course, being Canadian, I'm hoping the Canadians can take home a whole bunch of medals, (already got our first gold today in womens moguls) but to be honest, I'm really only watching 2 sports. First, is DEFINATELY HOCKEY!! And not even just the men, womens hockey too! Anyone see Team Canada destroy Italy today?? 16-0!! CRAZY!! Italy should drop out after that performance, on home ice too lol...

Aside from hockey, I can't wait to see mens halfpipe tomorrow. I've been snowboarding since I was about 9, so I love the sport. Haven't been in a few years tho. This time, I'm hopeing the US wins. Well I'm not really hoping the "US" wins, just Shaun White. That kid just blows my mind what he can do. In my opinion, he's the greatest snowboarder ever. I know, he's young, but its like Tiger Woods. Everyone knows he's the best, he's just gotta wait a few more years to win all the records and titles. Nobody denies it's gonna happen.

(2 goals in the 2 first minutes and a goal in the 2 first minutes of the 2nd and 3rd period...)

12-0 <------ vs Russia (2 goals in numerical inferiority)


The USA women team is also doing their thing...

6-0 <------- vs Switzerland
5-0 <------- vs Germany

but... what can you say about 16 points!!!!!!! That's ridiculous! I mean, it's not because they are the host country that they need participate in every event...

I just hope the guys can keep up to the girls...
