How much have you put into your art throughout the years?

I want to talk about myself for a minute: Most of you know that i'm a music fanatic. For me, MUSIC IS EVERYTHING, AND EVERYTHING IS MUSIC. I have practically given up on social life and many other enjoyments in order to perfect my art. Until i got my internet connection, the only feedback i had been given was from my dad (Thank You!). I had to learn everything by myself, without any help whatsoever. I have spent days, nights and what's between them, sitting in front of the PC. Deep inside, i know that i deserve everything i have achieved. I see many cats (in all areas of life) who succeed only because of the connections they have \ various (at times quite dirty) manipulations. IT'S SO WRONG!

Today, i try to help those who seek for guidance; I'm trying to give what i didn't have.

What are your thoughts on this topic? Do you feel the same? Do you think that you have contributed enough to music?

As i see it - this place (Illmuzik) is filled with extremely talented individuals - waiting for a chance to blow up! I believe that in 2-3 years, some of you might gain serious reputation within the Underground scene (Underground is not a cliche!)! Good Luck Ya'll! :thumb:

I feel you, I have been involved with music for a long time.....the thing is I see a lot of cats involved for the wrong thing....they see beat making and production for the money....they see it for the fame or what they see on Bet and Mtv....that's not real, since I was a real musician first I know all about the sacrifices b4 you will see any fame....the late night gigs and practices....working on a song for two weeks, working with singers, a guitarist, a horn player, bass player....it takes lots of work and you will not be getting on over night except with some luck you might have the best beats on the planet but never get a deal...that's why you take your art to and artist and lock your town, city or locality down......(as long as it isn't wack LOL).....you do what you do for the love of the art....that's real....you got a kid you want to help out and learn new things.....I have help soooooo many up and coming producers out....all the way from helping them buy their first drum machine or new software or give some advice.......if you are really a musician or love the art of music you will always contribute and want to help other people improve their craft...I seen cats who b4 they joined the site it was their first exposure to any kind of music an now the are versed in being able to give advice or feedback to help out someone else....that's real

Yo i feel ya dog I am only 16 and I love it for the art its not all about the money the fame and girls, I do it because i love music I came from a musical background my grandpa was in a cortet(something like that) and i have been playing the drums sence i was six, and its alot of cats around my hood thats trying to produce sayin they just doing it to get famous, and shit, they just want the money and cars, because thats all the see on bet and mtv, they don't know the real side to it, the love, the sweat, and tears you put in it, to make your art a beatuiful thing, and I am not going to lie I used to be like that to, but untill i came to illmuzik yall helped me to get a better understanding in music and how to perfect my craft thats why I love this place, and I will rep it all the time.

i don' feel like i've contributed enough yet. i mean, i literally make beats from the moment i get up until when i go to sleep if i don't have shit to do, but i'm still beginner. still learning shit everyday. i make do what i do tho for the feelin i get when i make something i think is real ill. i get all giddy and get pumped up just from going in the right direction with a beat. its like hearin the best news possible, that's how i feel when i'm makin good music. there isn't much else tat can give you that feeling and that will always be true and there when you need it. and i definately feel you when you say you gave up some of the social scene. there've been too many nights where i plan on chillin and end up gettin hooked in a beat and stayin up til 4 in the morning, every second of which after like 1 i'm sayin "i got to get some sleep, i got work at 10" or some shit. that's what its about. literally NOT bein able to stop

Yea i agree i do it coz its sumthing i love to do ! I havent been doing production for aslong as you but my involvement in the scene from DJing etc ive been doing for 6 years since i woz 13 so i know wot its like to work and work at sumthing ! Its a great feeling though really where you start making a beat and the next time you look at the clock its like 4-5 hours later and your thinking shit i got work in a couple of hours but fuck you end up staying up all night just to finish the track ! I've just these last couple of days started work on my demo/album type thing so im looking forward to many more late nights on this ! Im just enjoying contributing to the art and furthering my skill and hopefully one day i'll reap the rewards !

yeah i feel what your saying in the sacrafice department. ive sacraficed my previous chosen career path (tennis) and also found myself not hanging with my mates as much as i should. and like everyone has said so far, i do it for the love. a perfect representation of this attitude is a song by Aesop Rock called No Regretts.

as far as helping people out, i try to help where i can but i feel im still somewhat of a beginner. i feel like theres lots of basic shit which i should not be ignorant of but am. so i gotta educate my ass.

word to making beats for the sake of making beats.
