The Mac, study after study after study has shown the total cost of ownership of a Mac to be significantly cheaper. I posted a few studies already. On top of that you are talking about one experience of one person. That’s called anecdotal evidence. I’m talking about in depth studies that have measured thousands of computers over years. They all say the same thing. Macs are cheaper in the long run. Also I literally bought an iMac laptop around that time for about $1000 and ran it ten years and eventually put Ubuntu on it. So even my own personal experience (which is not credible evidence per se) says the same thing.

My ex had to buy a new macbook charger every month cause of their shitty build, sparks flying out of them n shit falling apart. She then resorted to buying fakes because the cost of macbook charges and any apple replacement is high.

i use both. i currently have a windows desktop pc that iv had for the 5 years ive been making beats, and ive had no problems with it. ive had various windows laptops when i was actively djing....thats a whole nother story. now ive had a 2012 15 inch macbook pro ive had since 2014 that fucker is a BEAST i still have it. that thing used to run LITERALLY 24-7 for about 3 years straight, no lie. I used it daily for everything. once i got my desktop i finally shut it down and ill open it every once in a while just to update it and it still works just like the day i got it. and i bought if for $600 at a local pawn shop
the mac at the studio is from around 2014 I think. But its age is starting to show, especially with Logic X, thats why I use my own laptop. Besides I have all my own plugins and go to vsts all on my laptop, so workflows are just so much quicker when I know where everything is and the computer isnt hanging, like the Mac keeps doing.
Would love to rebuild a new tower, but going to have a wait a little for that to happen. Maybe win the lottery, get a platinum smash hit, I dunno.

@konceptG Then prove it right now. Go configure a Dell and match it spec for spec with a mac. I bet they are within 10% in price. I literally do this for my job weekly. So have at it man. I’m a 20 year IT get myself. Nice to meet you!

Check out this IBM study that was massive and totally disproves what you are saying https://www.jamf.com/resources/pres...roductivity-and-employee-satisfaction-at-ibm/

Ps I’m a VMware specialist by profession now.

You can't and you know that. Mac's no longer use Intel processors so there's no way to do a direct comparison anymore.

I'm also a former VCP holder (4) and I work in esx and vsphere day-to-day for one of my clients. I'm probably going to take 7 towards the end of this year after I get Azure, F5, and CEH v11 out of the way. Also, you and I have had convos like this one in the past.

It must be said: "employee satisfaction" is not a measure of performance; just had to throw that out there.

I feel like you maybe didn’t read the study, because that was one small part of it. I’m kinda over the Apple discussion right now, and if someone try’s and Apple product and it’s not for them, I don’t care at all. I’m just not a fan of people acting like someone is dumb for using an Apple product or (as you said) that they are “inferior “ because both of those things are objectively false. And to the original question “why don’t people look at alternatives “ it’s pretty simple, in almost every study done user satisfaction of Apple products is overwhelmingly high. Why would someone look for an alternative to a product they were happy with? It’s not really that complicated.

Price, being able to repair it, a bad experience with customer services, slave labour, upgradeability. A few things that come to mind.
When you buy brands, you are paying for the brand. its as simple as that. Apple markets itself as a fashionable trendy brand, always has.
You pay more just for the brand, for the "prestige" of being an owner of the brand. They set up their stores as temples, and cheer people that will stand for days in a queue to be one of the first owners of the latest product.
Its consumerism on overdrive, not buying out of necessity, but buying out of making a fashion statement for those shallow enough to be susceptible to that sort of thing. Usually women, like Fade said, they are more easily led by emotions, but with the feminisation of men its becoming quite prevalent among males too. Its the culmination of years of research in "public relations", "spin", "propaganda", "advertising", "mind control" all different words for the same thing. They know what buttons to press to get the desired outcomes.
It works, thats why they do it. Does it make you dumb? No, it makes you human, with all the human tendencies that brings along with it.
Being conned doesnt make us dumb, it means we let our guard down and a predator took advantage of that.
Dumb is making that same mistake again. Nobody likes to be conned, to feel naive enough to be taken advantage of, let alone admit it.
But until we admit what allowed us to be conned in the first place we cannot address it and avoid it happening again.
The first stage is denial and ridicule, then comes some realisation, then anger at being fooled.
All big companies play the same game, they stick their noses into politics to pretend they care, when they just want your damn money, and if you stood in the way of their profits you will find out just how much they really "care".
Is there a single western company more in bed with the Chinese Communist Party than Apple?
The same organ stealing Chinese Communist Party that keeps slaves in concentration camps.

Just found out that Apple are selling a set of 4 wheels for the Mac Pro for a bargain price of $700.

Ask most apple users why they use iPhone "cause it's the best" then ask why is it the best they will reply "oh i dunno it just is".

You get a similar experience with a lot of FL users. (Not the ones with intelligence who actually made that choice out of preference) but most will go "FL is the best all other daws are trash" and they have nothing informing their opinion, other than some other 12 year olds told them to get it in some YouTube video.
