I think it's because the guy in charge of it signed up here and quickly tried to promote the contest, which in turn I closed the thread and offered him to advertise instead. He agreed but then disappeared LOL. I then saw he hit up lots of other communities, I guess they gave in. It's not that I don't want Ill to be involved in that, it's just that I got the impression that VH1 was trying to promote their contest instead of actually promoting the sites that were nominated, IMO.
However, Ill doesn't necessarily need a contest to prove anything, as long as we keep improving that's what matters the most.

I don't like vh1 anyway...f'n hypocrites....they used to only play rock and some r&b...and they'd even edit out rappers' verses when they were collab w/ videos on vh1 rotation....now they do hip hop honors every year.....fuck em.

I usually don't agree with management just out of spite mostly...lol... but Fade is right on this one for sure. vh1 was doing a beat contest to help promote the show. Their catch was..."the winners beats will be the theme song of the awards show". I checked out the contest and saw thousands of producers sending their work in some even sent in 4 or 5 entries. All of it was promotion geared to increase ratings using the internet as one form of advertisement which is smart on the behalf of vh1 and its sponsors. Anyway, after the producers sent their beat/beats in, the contest promoted the public to vote on the best beat...you tell me who is gonna sit on a computer and listen to a kazillion beats? I had a hard time listening to 10. Then the winner was to win a studio session with some producer (i forget who it was) and that was it. So this one I gotta support admin. it was clearly a promotion gimic off the top.

I think you did the right thing Fade. Who gives a fuck about VH1 anyway. Okay so they would be good exposure, but to loads of people that dont even listen to hiphop. Sounds like even the big boys like VH1 are out to get something for nothing. Cheeky fucks, cant anyone pay their dues anymore.
Ps for the best UNDERGROUND site to stay that way, it certainly doesnt need VH1 blowing its trumpet. Getting all sorts of retarded youngstaz signing up thinking Ill will make them rich and famous.
