I have been into crate digging as long as i remember myself.
I can't imagine myself without my collection.
In my humble opinion, a good producer must be a serious collector in the first place.
You got to know the sources of your craft!
All of my beats are based on sampling with an occasional use of synthesizers. :study:

Crate diggah here. I love it, oh yes I love it won't have it any other way. Finddin' a good is like gettin' a good "NUT"!!!....lol seriously I beats up tha goodwills and fleamarkets and your old record shop. Sometimes you get to pay top dollar to get that hot loop. And I have code of conduct with makin' beats too. I won't use a sample unless I get it from tha original record. I won't sample it from another producer, unless it's R&B. Crazy? Maybe! It just me. It's tha way I get down. Can't U Diggit?!!!

Try ma man U'll like it, sometimes kan be work. It's a learnin' experience, it's like doin' a research paper..lol you know turnin' pages to get tha info. Tha same wit music instead of books, you got albums. Ain't nother like makin' a beat wit a good piece of vinyl. But try it and see what happens.

ive never actually been out diggin but i am goin real soon. i only know of one record store here so ima hit that up. but check it. this guy i kinda know moved into an old ladies house that went to a nursing home. she left everything except her clothes and t.v. i went in the basement one night to check shit out and ill be damned if i didnt almost bust a nut. there were stacks of 45's and 78's in the corner. i haven't taken an official count but i got between 900-1000 for $225. popular stuff and stuff i've never heard of.40's thru early80's.

vinyl is nice but I have no problem with other medias... If you use a computer to make beats, sampling CD's is really convenient.
