I can name a lot of over rated rappers and MC's but I would offend a lot of you so I'll keep my mouth shut and keep my opinions to myself. Theres too many sensitive people that are in these forums ... sometimes I wonder ......
I said 2pac was overated cause he was succesful for the wrong reasons, he was succesful cause he was a pissed of black man with a nice body and white women dug that, hence they bought his records...Whenever 2 pac was talking about social shit the majorty of the consumers didnt care but when he started talking about Balling, Weed, Bustin caps,LOVE love love they bought it , the only examples i can see are Changes, and Keep your head up...but pretty much he wasnt succesful cause of his skill which makes him OVERATED

here we go again with this so0called "hating". the man isnt hating because of his choice. themucka, you are obviously out to sell millions yourself, right? you have a different view of what good is, and i am guessing that it leans more towards what sells,thats fine..... from what i have heard you will certainly do that...... but for those of us that dont beleive that sales=skills, that doesnt make us haters. that just means that we define talent in other ways. as far as mr blacks statement about white women, well ....... a lot more then just white women bought his records, everyone bought his records but of course with mr black white people will always be an issue with everything. pac wasnt succesful because white women loved him; he was succesful because he made the black men feel empowered by a false sense of worth with such an emphasis on money and basically being hard........ he was succesful because all the gangsters (now called thugs i guess. why are people proud to be "thugs" anyways? its like something to aspire to these days......) could relate to his message, which most people identify as "hit em up" and "this aint nothin but a gansta party"and "ride or die" "you dont want to F^*& wih me" ......... he was succesful because in the midst of all his so-called "realness" (shooting people doesnt make you real, talking about shooting people doesnt make you real, money doesnt make you real, hate to break it to some of you) he manged transform into a decent human being on a few others.... (dear momma, brendas got a baby, part time mother, keep ya head up, so many tears, changes, he does have a lot of these) so he pretty much hit n every level of society with his music. the problem being that most people adopted the whole "thug life" thing and ignored all of the positive things he he spoke about. and before everyone jumps on my case bout this, i have seen many people change their attitude completely as soon as one of his songs come on..... its the aggression that people are drawn to the most. his persona has taken him farther then his skills have, he really had a gift of drawing people into him and that is something that translates into everyday life, not just music. in my book he is very overated, but so is john lennon, so is elvis presley, so is michael jackson, so is every man that becomes such a mythical figure, because people get carried away to the point of worshipping these guys. its funny how we get all defensive about people we dont even know, never will know, and at best be able to be the next producer on a weak vocal that he recorded 10 years ago which will still sell heavily because of who he is, and for no other reason. that makes him overated to me.

Okay heres my point, The number of black people in America as a whole lets ee about 14% on a good day, The number of those who are gangsters….much lower, there is no argument here pac selling 9 million records for him to be bought by all black people, gangsters blah blah blah, (and these people would have to listen to rap btw) he couldn’t sell that many records, NOW if you look at the Caucasian class, more then 70 Some odd precent of this country, then Yes its possible for 2pac to sell 9 million records, Quincy jones even said you cant sell a lot of records unless you have a large white audience, this is just a fact of life…

well..... i wasnt disagreeing with the fact that whites make up a large part of hip hop sales. all i am saying is that tupac has a diverse audience, but you for some reason singled out the white women. but the, what about hispanics, asiains, etc? a lot of different people bought his music. but your always like "i see white people" in everything....
as far as me thinking the artists that sell the most are overated, well, yup, because the artists that sales the absolute most are the people that everyone basically worships..... people lose would their damn mind when michael jackson, elvis, the beatles, etc. would come to town, girls fainting, everyone just freaks out. ... . . they're just people. they are great artsts, the greatest of their generations, but people act like they were Jesus or something (hell the beatles even said they were bigger then Jesus...), the way people get all carried away all the time....
and who cares about pac and 50 getting shot? some of you act like thats the greatest thing in the world. what, does that make them special now? like thats a badge of honor..... is that something to aspire to? that always gets brought up like its important. guess what? that doesnt make them any "realer" then the next guy. everyone has a story to tell, everyone has something they went through but for some stupid reason getting shot is held in such high regard.... its fine to use that as a selling point for your story, but when do you just get over it... its rediculous...
you want to know what REAL is? some of the things i have talked to a few guys about in here is real (you know who you are) ..... the things i grew up with were real..... but nowaday you have eminem and 50 and all they do is hype up the situations that led to their current success.....eminem... his mother wasnt a good mother, she was a druggie, em had no dad, he was picked on because he was white.....guess what? join the club! welcome to real life! as far as 50, he got because of the life that he lived, plain and simple. he lived because God chose to let him, not because he is just that tough. people act like he had something to do with surviving. are we supposed to impressed? how about living in the environment that he did, and actually NOT selling crack, not being a "thug" (what does that mean, exactly?) and not being the very poster child for black stereotypes? now that would impress me.

9/10 have everyday life.... when they get home or finsh whateva there doing.. they wanna relax... they wanna feel good... or just feel..... now when they listen 2 that music... it's getting them 2 relax... there feeling this.... subconsiously or conciously.... they start 2 relate.... wether it's going 2 clubs... dealing with pain... dealing with social issue.... or that gangsta shit..... or some shit it don't matter...
my point is music gets personal..... and the more areas of people you can get 2 relate 2 your music the stronger you'll be.... like pac... and biggie....
i tell everybody this ..... 50 would have been with out... dre and eminem... granted are they a perfect fit ... yes...
but he still would have sold more than 2 mill....

nah, i have been touched by music the last 10 years of my life. i have been on my own since i was 15 and on the street and all i had was my bag with some clothes and my walkman. i had tupacs me against the world, all eyes on me, and 2pacolypse now wu tangs forever and biggies life after death. and liquid swords and muddy waters.........those tapes gave me some things to think about besides the b.s. that was going on..... then i had dmx and mobb deep, but the thing was while all those albums were great to me and i related to a lot of it, and they helped me get through that time, they also made me want to live that life, to stay on the street and sell, to get blunted and drunk, it made me think and say women are bitches and good for sex and nothing else....but that didnt get me anywhere. i related, but it also brought me down.
