???????

 Its so hard to tell if someone can make it because its not really based on talent anymore. Its Politics! There are alot of producers that suck but make it big because of who they know or who they hang with. Most good music is not appreciated. Bottom Line!:headbang:

im tryin to make it big right now and i got alot of ppl feelin my music but industry ppl do get at me with the "real equipment" thing. as far as equipment i have none at all, just a pc and software. i personally dont see anything wrong wit using just software even tho it does have alot of ppl thinkin they can automatically become a super producer but there are also ppl wit the skill and the heart for the music but not the budget. i am broke 6 out of 7 days of the week but im still tryin to make music and still tryin to get it heard. i just dropped some promotional stiff to try to get my name out...i produced a cd that my boy Rk dropped in florida and its gettin aroun, and i also did a remix for Daz of dpg which should be gettin on the air waves on the west coast pretty soon. but im still sittin here tryna get money to buy a mpc4000 cause ppl tell me i would be great with it just as much as they say i "need" it. so im still tryin to make big. (but will they even want just a software producer)... :/

It's not what you have but what you can do with it!!!You have people that have all kinds of hardware but can't push nothing hot out , but you also have people that use nothing but software that pushes out nothing but hot joints....It's all on the man behind the buttons

Trey you got it man, its all on the creativity you put into it...forget the gear....

but on the other hand if UR doing it for the industry....U must have top of the line equipment...no doubt....I know this for a fact though...but at the lil leagues...not really.....I know someone will comeback an say that ain't so.....but I again attend all kinds of events whenever I can with already established producers and any I have been too always stress the importance of having the best gear....sometime they use relics like the sp1200 and the mpc60...but generally they do switch out to get new hardware...

Ok: The person who started this thread should define "making it." To some people, making it is just being heard. To others, making it is being on TV and having your own clothing line. What it all comes down to is time and place. Everybody wants to make it big, but who really wants it, you feel me?? Who's really trying to find themselves the best artists to represent themselves with? I for one can say I am. Who really is putting thier all into every beat they make?? Again, I know I am. I'm not even saying any of that cocky, it's just the truth. If any of that is true for you, than you can say it too. All I know is, I'm co-owner of a label I started with my boys about 2 years when I was 15. I'm the ONLY producer out of about 10 of us, (which I like,) and litterally every artist on my label is fire. FIRE. Kids who seriously toss out flyers and freestyle wherever they can get attention. So in response to the original post topic, I do feel like I have a strong chance of making it. I've just told you why. I'm putting myself out there and proving I'm hungry.

first of all, to everyoe who keeps mentioning 9th wonder as one who made it with fruity loops, he is sampling exclusively from records at the same time, and so it is his arranging skill that is doing it, not the software. he would do just as well with an mpc or asr.....so he isnt composing his own music on fruity loops. i dont know who here uses exaclt what but judging from the kids i have heard out here with it they are plain, and plain boring to boot.

anyhow, i think that metrosoul could do it...... i think cam creations can and should definitley go to another level entirely..... thats all i can remember off the top- my realplayer is down so i cant hear anything right now. thequestion was who would most likely make it and then everyone started naming themselves and dancing around the question, "define the term 'make it'" or like my own partner- encore- said, "i feel like i make it every time i someone hears my music".... that wasnt the question and we all know it. encore, for one, uses my mpc, and doesnt use his triton le unless he has my mpc, which is disapointing, because with that type of work ethic he aint goin anywhere. metrosoul, cam, you two need to start working extra hard on your skills cause i think you are both right there and can make that leap. i hope yall maximize that potential. inrcity as well cause you can hear the radio potential in his tracks.... im sure some of you got left out but these are who i remember.

WOW!!!Truth Told I must say thank you...I also agree with you about Metrosoul and cam....There are a few others as well But to the point I have to make!!!It's not what you have it's what you can do with it...Software or hardware it doesn't matter.....A person can have all the latest Hardware and not pound out a decent track one time in his life and the same with software....You have to put time and effort in don't settle for any beat make some shit That will have yourself saying this shit is hot....We are all our worst critics and if we can get ourself to say what the fuck did i do and how the fuck did I do it Then you can start doing things on the next level...And only people who will make it are out there grindin working with artist in the studio laying songs down and trying to hit any record company big and small just overall doing it...I'm not going to say I'm going to make it big but I will say i'm going to try.....I work an overnight job...fuck it I work for Target overnight and september will make two years I've been an overnight team lead we get two trucks a night with 1500-2300 peices of freight on it for 5 days a week I unload these trucks sometimes without help I'm in the truck picking up boxes and throwing them on the roller every night...I have a 18 month old daughter and I'm living with my girl(girls)..Every Sunday me and my artist does a song(for the past 7 weeks)..My only days off are sunday and monday....sunday morning when I leave work I go to my mothers house and sleep for two hours and get up and go to the studio and sometimes I nod off at the board for a few seconds every five to ten minutes because I'm so tierd but I refuse to unload these trucks for the rest of my life I have talent and I don't want to waste it.....I want to make it and I'm going to die trying to make it...Here it is I sleep no more than 4 hours a day because my girl works during the day and I work at night and we don't have a babysitter...I'm not just doing this for me I'm doing it for them as well..My girl don't like it and we argue a lot because we don't spend time together on my days off but she understands...I'm not looking for any sympathy I'm the kind of person that wants to see everyone do good no matter how I might make any of you mad sometimes like Fame keyz Onenineblock and even Truth Told...These are just a few of the names I got into it with in the threads here but I wish them all the best along with anyone else here...I'm just trying to motovate you guys and show yall this shit aint easy.....The easiest part is making the beats ...but along with making the beats you have to be dedicated and willing to sacrafice certain things in order to make it big...It's not easy at all.....If you look at it ,it's just like a job and you have to preform in order to succed.....

Peace

man, as far as "getting into it" -at least with me- there is nothing wrong with having different views and perspectives and standing firmly behind them. i think (well i have) we all learn a lot from each other here because of those differences, you know? any how seriously, i hope the rest of yall "get there" and make it big. if you are good, the boys at illmuzik will congratulate and support you by buying and not DOWNLOADING your music....

if you suck, well, do us a favor and dont mention that you were ever on this site!!!!! hahaha just messin.... peace to all............

Why do these topics always end with the hardware vs software argument? If you sell a beat to somebody and its already seperated into tracks it doesnt matter what equiptment it was made on. You send it off to who ever bought it and they usually run it through pro tools to master it. Once you sell a beat or beats to somebody thats it. I would like to know why some of you keep saying you need hardware? It makes no sense I used to have hardware and its the same exact process, the only difference is hardware takes almost 10 times longer to finish up everything.
