You have to decide whether you want to sell him the full rights to the beat or whether you're just selling him the right to use it in his own music. If you sell him the full rights, your beat becomes his and you wont receive any royalties. If you just sell him usage though, I believe you would be entitled to a piece of the pie. Plus, you could then turn and sell the same exact beat to another guy. I guess the exact details sorta depend on the writing in the contract, but that was my understanding.
