What's the most realistic sounds out there??

I'd like to know what as the most realistic sounds. It can be vstis, soundfonts, reason refills, etc or module, synthetizer, keyboard, etc. I'd like to know for both Softwares and Hardware.

Cuz i've notice, that the guitar sounds are really hard to emulate, maybe except for the electric guitard now, cuz i'm hearing some nice electric guitar, but the spanish, nylon, acoustic guitar sounds pretty cheap.

I dont think there is one single answer to you question. Depending on what you want to emulate, some programs/sounds/soundbank are more realistic than others... But all in all, my guess is that modules (and keyboards) are the ones who have the most realistic sounds, since they are mostly based on samples of the real instruments...

but then, you can also have soundfont that are done in the same fashion...

The Motif ES sounds real as hell! I love how the woodwinds & bass on that thing sounds. Ive never use a Fantom but I heard they have some pretty realistic sounds too.

Syntheway makes realistic vsti's for about every nice hip hop instrument you could think of. They have strings, a flute, hammond b3, a rhodes, choir's, just abou everything man and its all real time sampling, no synths- This shit really sounds real
Aside from that you got steinberg who makes all that shit too, just more expensive. And also man, dont be lazy. I got most of my illest vst's and plugins just surfing the net for free vst downloads. You really got to search though cause there is alot.
Anyway get at me if you have anymor questions. I use all vst and real time istruments in my production. Check out my beats, I use alot of the syntheway products.

Thx a lot ..but one thing....STOP SAYING "REAL TIME" it's not the appropriate word!!! I liked the strings in "Mean" and "Street2club" does that comes from Syntheway?

And one last tip : i don't think it's always a good idea to put reverb on your drums... but that's me.

Try physical modeling with synths like a yamaha VL1, VL7, VL70M. It does take more than a synth to reproduce real acoustic impressions, besides having the proper engine and enough time to make patches ( fuck you preset loving munchkins ) it takes performance and the feel for playing an instrument in order to appear realistic in the first place. The VL series (VL card) can be hooked to a breath controller for wind instruments but you can buy/use a breath controller for anything that comes midi equiped, thus bringing so more realism to programming a score.

does anyone know of a way to use a vst instrument with an mpc1000? I've always used vst's before the mp an would like the opportunity again!!

What up Fam,
I think the only way to do it would be to use a software program that accepts VST plugins and then hook your mpc up to computer and configure the settings for the program. Then you could use the MPC through the program as a single track and then add hte VST's on

no that's interesting, i heard people inquiring on using flstudio with an mp. reason doesn't accept vst's so that's out of question.. but i'm not complaining cause i love my setup now but there's always room for improvement!

Setup the mp in midi thru mode with your pc, that's all you need to do (mpc can be master).

I've hooked the mpc to FL which is nice, but I suggest using logic or cubase for such a setup which is fairly easier to setup and assign the midi routing.

But you can also look at none sequencer vst hosts which together with multiple I/O assignment and midi support comes closer to the appeal a hardware user or a musician ( with all respect for the beat programmers hehe )

Those sounds real cuz they are sampled from real live instruments. Synthezized instruments can never have that feeling of autentisity or that nerve that is in a real instrument. It's like creating a tube-compressor as a software. Technicly you could hit the same frequencies but the sound never gets the same warmth as the real tube.

motif es sounds great .. with vl expansion i sure it can do the job ... i know i will catch flack but i just do not believe in vst instruments .. i dont know ... i just dont see software being on the same level of hardware in terms of sound quality and functionality ... maybe someone can prove me wrong ... i use software sometimes for a pad or a background noise but a hardware unit like the motif rack es is just more appealing to me than a vst joint ... just sounds better .. and you can edit a sound and add effects wihou constanly checking your cpu usage

depends on what u use. a free vsti is like a casio keyboard. a vsti based on samples thats 100 gigs is gonna sound sick. all depends on what u use and how u use it and what not

Noticed you mentioned guitar sounds i nthe first post. There are entire books dedicated on emulating guitars digitally. So thats really all depends on what u want. Also, SampleTank 2 XL is nice when it comes to sound quality, I'd recommend that over buying a new keyboard and whatnot.

I heard about this one, is it the : EastWest Quantum Leap? It does sounds real good! I think i had a demo of Elektrik PIano, it's sounds good too.
